Literacy Corner with Mrs. Etgen
As the weather gets warmer and sports are ramping up, please continue to encourage your child to keep reading. This is the time in the school year where all the skills and strategies that students have been working on all year start to come together. It is wonderful to see readers with improved confidence in their reading ability, and growth in their comprehension.
Thank you for encouraging your child to read at home. Independent reading is the best way to build stamina in reading fluency, comprehension, and of course, a love of reading. On my website, I have some reading suggestions for different grade levels. There are also some beginning readers' links at this site. Please feel free to reach out if you need ideas for books for your children! I love to help students select their best fit books. Go, Wrightstown Readers!!

Registration for 2023-2024 School Year
Registration is now open for enrolling any NEW students for next school year. A letter was provided to Wrightstown Elementary School families from Nicole Crawford (Director of Elementary Education) and me regarding the registration of children attending WES for the first time for the 2023-2024 school year.
The letter stated:
We are monitoring the number of new registrants to Wrightstown Elementary due to our projected enrollment numbers and space challenges. Therefore, we recommend that you register your child for the 2023-2024 school year as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of a grade level reaching its maximum.
Online Registration: The Council Rock School District utilizes a secure online portal for a parent(s) to enroll their child(ren). Please ensure you have all required documents ready before starting the enrollment process below. The application functions best in the Chrome browser on a desktop or laptop.
Your child is NOT registered until all documents have been received, reviewed by central registration, and the final registration document has been signed by the parent.
Habits of Mind
You can find more information about the Habits of Mind HERE. At the link, there is a section for parents if they would like to reinforce the habits at home.

Additional resources for parents are provided in the letter HERE under the grade level topics if you are looking to further these conversations at home.

Below is a form to be completed for any Educational Trips. Please be sure to submit the form at least ten (10) days prior to your trip, for approval. Please contact Mrs. Pat Ricciardi, attendance clerk, at pricciardi@crsd.org if you have questions regarding this process.

Free Breakfast Program
A message went out from the school district this week with information about the free breakfast program. Council Rock will begin offering free breakfast to all enrolled students at the elementary and middle school levels starting Monday, October 3rd through the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
What you need to know:
- No sign-up is required.
- Daily breakfast menus will be available on our menus website.
- Students enter their lunch ID number and get breakfast in the cafeteria upon arrival at school.
- Breakfast will be pre-bagged and have an optional milk and fruit selection.
The protocol for WES will be that children may pick up the bagged breakfast in the cafeteria upon arrival to school on their way to their homeroom. Students will use their lunch ID when picking up the breakfast, and then they will eat in their homeroom. Issues may arise with disruptions to our morning classroom routines or creating excessive messes in classes. We will address these needs as we begin the program, and, if needed, we will make changes as to where the students will eat their breakfast. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions.
