Wildcat Wisdom

Wesley Chapel High School 9/9/20

A message from Mr. McDermott

Good day Wildcats. I hope you all had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. As we move into the second part of week three, I again want to thank you for all you are doing to help our students stay healthy by following our guidelines for masks and social distancing. Parents, please remember to do the screener for your students each day as students should not come to school if they are not feeling well. They will be able to keep up with their courses by communicating with the instructor and using the myLearning platform. Please continue to reach out to us if you need anything.

SAC Application

We have current openings for our WCHS SAC Committee for the 2020-21 school year. This committee provides a great opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to provide input to the school. Here is the link to apply.

Dress Code

Parents, please remember to discuss the dress code with your student and ensure they are properly dressed for school. Students are not allowed to wear hats or head coverings of any kind (except religious exemptions) while on campus. Attached is a copy of the district dress code policy.

Student Drop Off Loop

Parents please remember to use the drop off loop when driving students to school. It is a safety concern to drop students off in the front office parking lot or on Wells Road. We want to keep all of our Wildcat students safe. Please pull as far forward as possible prior to exiting the vehicle and turn right out of the drop off loop to keep traffic moving.

mySchool Online Zoom Meetings

Parents of mySchool online students. Students are required to log into their zoom classrooms using their legal first and last names. Also, please remind your students that they need to be dressed appropriately for their zoom classes. Students not following the rules will not be admitted to class and may be marked absent.

Free ACT for Seniors on 10/6/2020 at WCHS

The FLDOE has provided a portion of their Florida CARES ACT plan funding to districts in order to allow all high school students, especially traditionally underserved populations, to have at least one opportunity to take the SAT or ACT in order to quality for admission to a postsecondary institution and/or to qualify for a Bright Futures scholarship.

This will permit Pasco County Schools to offer the reportable ACT to all SENIORS on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Picture Make-Up October 6, 11:30AM-3:30PM

Gigante will be back for Picture Make-Up Day on Tuesday, October 6th from 11:30-3:30 and they will set up in Room 327, not the gym. This is the same day seniors will be taking the ACT, which is why they are coming to campus later than usual. MSOL students will enter from the car loop in order to practice social distancing.

Change of Placement Requests

Please watch this video from Superintendent Browning discussing the value of instructional continuity for our students and scheduling. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKN_DzbaCpM

If you are considering making a permanent choice in your child’s learning option, please do so by Friday, September 11th. The Request to Change Learning Option form can be found at this link.

Computers and Hot Spots

Wildcats on MSO, if you are still in need of a computer, please contact the school at (813) 794-8700 to make arrangements to get one. Please note that we are only providing one Hot Spot per address. Where there are siblings in multiple levels, we will be sending the Hot Spot to the highest level. (e.g. a family that has an elementary student and a high school student, the Hot Spot will be sent to the high school)

Students Leaving Campus for Lunch and Lunch Delivery Services

Parents, please remind your students that they are not allowed to leave campus for lunch. It is a safety risk and we need them to remain on campus for lunch.

Also, we are not allowed to have food delivery services for students on campus. This is a district policy and a safety issue to have strangers on campus.
