Principal's Message

Dear Roy Cloud Families,

It was so nice to see families and students at Family Fest last Saturday! We couldn't have had better weather! Our students had so much fun exploring all of the engaging science projects organized by the Roy Cloud Dad's Club (RCDC). And we were all very impressed by the amazing student artwork displayed at the Art Show! I heard that our 8th graders raised quite a bit of money from their bake sale for their upcoming graduation events! The book fair was very popular and the proceeds will provide a robust selection of new books for our school library! Of course, the most popular and much-anticipated attraction of the day was ice cream from the Mr. Softee truck. It was a great beginning to the many more community events to come!

Thank you to our PTO and all of the parent volunteers that made this event possible! We hope you will join us for the Roy Cloud Auction on May 7 at Domenico Winery!

Thank you,

Kristy Jackson

Interim Principal

CAASPP State Testing - May 3 - 19

Our 3rd - 8th grade students will be participating in state testing between May 3 and May 19. Testing will take place in the morning, prior to recess on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We appreciate your help to ensure that students attend school on these days and arrive on time. In preparation for testing, we recommend that students get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Please review the Parent/Guardian CAASPP Resources - here you will find more information about the test and links to practice tests.

Join the Roy Cloud School Site Council!

The Roy Cloud School Site Council (SSC) is a leadership organization whose equal members include staff and parents. We work to develop and recommend goals for the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), oversee the Measure U budget, and assess progress in meeting plan goals. The focus of the SSC is to ensure that the school is continually engaged in identifying and implementing curriculum and instructional practices that result in both strengthening the core academic and behavioral programs while ensuring students have access to and success in these programs.

SSC members usually agree to a two-year commitment. However, due to Distance Learning and a change in administrative leadership, we currently have 5 open positions. In order to follow our current bylaws moving forward, we would need 2 parents to have a one-year commitment and 3 parents to commit to a 2-year commitment.

Interested parents that would like to join our team of parents, teachers, and school administrators to help develop our school site goals are welcome to send a brief email of interest to our Interim Principal Kristy Jackson at kjackson@rcsdk8.net and current SSC Chairperson Mary-Elizabeth Robinson at maryerobinson@gmail.com. Anyone wanting to run for the parent positions will be voted on by our parent community at the end of May.

Summer School Programs

We have had several questions in regards to summer enrichment opportunities for Roy Cloud students. RCSD students will be invited to the summer enrichment program based on need and will start with eligible students at prioritized schools. Once the first few rounds of invitations have gone out to families, if there are still available spaces, eligible Roy Cloud families will be contacted starting on May 25. Please let me know if you have any questions.
