Arbor Springs October Newsletter
October 1, 2016
Our Mission: Arbor Springs Committed to Student Success.
From Dr. D. and Dr. T.
Our visit from the CSEE (Coweta Schools Effectiveness Evaluation) review team went very well! We received some excellent feedback and are excited to implement some new ideas. The day of the visit, our school was abuzz with excitement! We are very proud to be the first school to be measured using this new tool.
Students continue to enjoy using the Chromebooks as part of their blended learning. See the notice below for an upcoming opportunity for parents to learn more about the Chromebooks, the expectations for them, and how they are changing the way our students learn.
Gator Run preparations are well underway! Our new track is prepped (barring striping) and includes pedestrian crosswalks from the building to the field. We are so thankful to our PTA for proposing the idea and for the parental support that made it possible. Our Gator Run will take on a new dimension this year! Thanks, also, to our awesome sponsors! Platinum Level sponsors include Poindexter Technologies, Kendra's, Juliana's Furniture Galleries, and Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Gold Level sponsors include American Designer Flowers (Happy Petals), JnT PawnShop, Rinnai, Four Seasons Towing and Recovery, the Jewkes Firm, Bush Real Estate Group, J Rudney LLC, Midsouth Steel Inc., and E.E. Armored Protection. We are so grateful for the support!
Another exciting event, Family Fun Night, is coming up soon! We hope to see you all there joining in on the good times with family and friends on October 27th.
If you have a green thumb or just a willing heart, please join us December 3rd for grounds beautification. There's an invitation below for you to RSVP if you think you can help. Thanks in advance to Pastor Craig from Southwest Christian Church and to Mr. Jim Marshall for volunteering to help with organization. You can come at any time and stay as long as you like!

PTA is hard at work each and every day for the upcoming Gator Run! The Prize Patrol is a big hit with the students every day. We can't wait to see how the run goes on our new track. Please “Like” our Facebook page for school events, PTA updates, etc. Lastly, don’t forget to send in your Box Tops, Labels for Education, Coke rewards codes and Sunny D UPCs. Swimming in a School of Character:
The character word for the month of September was responsibility. Responsibility means to carry out a duty or task carefully and thoroughly. Students who are taught to be responsible and accountable for their choices and actions develop a greater sense of self-worth and confidence in their ability to make right choices. They will receive the satisfaction of knowing that they are dependable, and trustworthy people who take responsibility for their actions.
National Hispanic Heritage Month
During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) we recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture.
Red Ribbon Week
The National Family Partnership organized the first Nationwide Red Ribbon Campaign. NFP provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual National Red Ribbon Celebration. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness. The students and faculty at Arbor
Springs will show our commitment to a drug-free lifestyle by participating in various Red Ribbon activities all week long. We will celebrate and honor National Red Ribbon Week from10/24-10/28. Our theme this year is YOLO: “You only live once!
Please talk to your children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, peer pressure and embracing integrity by making good decisions.
