Oakwood PTO

February 2019

A Message from Mr. Symank

I hope that everyone has started the New Year with a bang. It took some time, but everyone here at Oakwood has settled back into their routines and we are already half way through the 4th 6 weeks. Our spring semester is going to have a lot going on and before we know it, it will be summer again. Please continue to check our website and Schoology for current information. Sometimes this is the only way that you can get information as we know that our students don’t always share as much as we would all like them to with their parents.

On February 28th we will host an open house for our incoming 5th grade students. We will have a book fair in the library and representatives from the different departments and electives will be available in the gym for questions. This will begin at 5:00 PM and end at 6:30 PM. Our orchestra, choir, and band will also be performing at this event. We encourage everyone to come out and join us that evening.

With Valentine’s Day less than two weeks away I wanted to be sure to point out a couple of things regarding deliveries to school. Flowers, balloons, chocolates, teddy bears, etc. will not be delivered to any student during the school day. Any student that receives something in the front office will be notified at the end of 7th period that they need to pick it up after school. While we certainly appreciate the intended sentiment of the gifts, unfortunately, they can be very disruptive when delivered in our classrooms and hallways.

Please note it on your calendars now that our students will have a holiday on Monday, February 18.

As always, thank you very much for the opportunity to work with your amazing children.

Sincerely,

Josh Symank

Principal - Oakwood

Keep up with Oakwood PTO with texts and on Facebook

We are hoping to go more paperless in our communications. If it's important, we'll text you if you've signed up for remind with the PTO. See the picture below for how to receive texts through remind.com. We only send texts during polite hours.

We share even more info for parents through Facebook for the school here and for the PTO here. It is encouraged that parents toggle on "Get Notifications" on the top of our pages. Otherwise, many posts will not be included in your news feed without being boosted with an ad buy.
