Hello Bushnell Families~
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! This week featured lots of opportunities to volunteer at Bushnell. We had 39 parents or caregivers volunteer to help our students shop for gifts at the Secret Santa shop. Many parents assisted their kindergarten students as they decorated sugar cones into Christmas trees. We also had adults help with special projects pop in to help teachers for next week. It is wonderful to see so many of you here in the building!
You should have received your child's report card this week. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to either your child's teacher or myself.
It is hard to believe we only have one more week of school left until our holiday break. Next week is going to be fun-filled! Many classrooms have special events and dress up days planned all week. I’m looking forward to spreading some holiday cheer throughout the building!
When students return from break, it will be benchmark assessment time. Students will be taking the Acadience Reading Assessment (formerly known as DIBELS). This assessment measures sound and reading fluency. Our students in 1st grade will also be taking the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. This is a norm reference test that compares our students with students across the United States in the areas of math and reading. Our teachers use this data to help differentiate lessons within their classroom; providing remediation to students who need help, and challenges to students who may be at a higher level than the grade level expectations. You will receive your child’s test results within the next month. You can also go to the MAP website, www.nwea.org , to learn more about this assessment.
We continue our holiday countdown to break with the calendar of fun dress up days. Here is the link if you would like to have your child participate.
Finally- check out the information below for some fun family activities at the Wittenbach Center, a soccer experience for little ones and also the activities link for more ideas here in Lowell! You can also visit GRkids.com for more ideas of fun things to do with your child over winter break!
Have a beautiful weekend everyone!
