A word from Mr Broom

After last week's illness, I've been back fully into the swing of things, and it's been an amazing week!

I've been teaching several classes while some of the teachers have taken an afternoon out of school for Christmas shopping. It's a great opportunity for me to work in class, costs us nothing, and it's great for staff morale/wellbeing.

I began on Wednesday in Mrs Walker's Year 1 class. We had a fabulous history afternoon, looking at cars (old and new) followed by ordinal numbers and designing transport of the future. I don't know who had the best time; the children or myself!

Yesterday, I took Miss Ball's Reception class for music, painting and outdoor play. Yet again I had a lovely time. Finally, today, I became the teacher for Mrs Butterfield's Year 3 class, working on their performance for next week.

I always say this but our children are truly fantastic and the progress they are making is wonderful to see.

Have a lovely weekend.

Dressing Up for Christmas!!!

We will be holding a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 13th December in aid of Save the Children. A voluntary donation of £1.00 payable via ParentPay is requested.

In our final week of the term, we'd like to invite the children to wear any Christmas accessories they choose. This could be Christmas tights, headbands, socks, tinsel etc. That's every day from Monday 16th. Get your Christmas jumpers out!

Parking Reminder

A quick reminder to ask everyone to park considerately of others when dropping off and picking up. I realise it's difficult and very busy. Please use the Co-op Car Park if possible.

Year 3/4 Christmas Sing-a-long!

The children in Year 3 and Year 4 (Mrs Butterfield / Browning) will be holding a Christmas Carol Sing-a-long at 1415 on December 12th. Parents are more than welcome to attend and the event will be followed by the Year 3/4 open classrooms, where you'll get to see the wonderful work they have been doing over the past few weeks.

Lunchtime on Monday 16th December

On Monday 16th December, it's the school Christmas Lunch. As this is the case, there will be no jacket potato or sandwich option available on this day.

If your child is in KS1, please let us know if they will be bringing a packed lunch.

If your child is in KS2 and would like a Christmas lunch, please pay £2.30 on ParentPay by Friday 13th December.

No Dogs on Site

A reminder that school is a 'No Dogs Zone'. This includes dogs being tied to gates or fences as well as in pushchairs! Thank you.

Attendance Just Above Expectations

With an average of 96.2%, our attendance this week is above the national average. Well done everyone, even with the bugs that are going about too!

Well done to those children with great attendance and congratulations to Year 3, who are our attendance champions for the second week running with 99.1%

Registering Interest for Nursery Places

If you will be considering nursery provision for your younger children in the future please let us know. We review our nursery provision regularly and information on predicted numbers is essential to help with planning. Those on the register are also welcome to come along to the monthly stay and play sessions to meet other families with young children and our local childminders.

School Policy on Sickness/Diarrhoea

If you child suffers from sickness and / or diarrhoea, we try to minimise infection by implementing a 48 hour absence period from school. This begins from the last instance of any symptoms.

Thank you.

Free School Meal Applications

If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals (even if they are currently in receipt of the Universal Free School Meal provided to children in Reception / Year 1 and Year 2) please ask at the office for a form. The school receives additional funding for each successful application, and you would also be eligible for a voucher towards the cost of any uniform provided through school.
