Making Thinking Visible

This month our teachers used the making thinking visible routines of Compass Points and Headlines with their classes. At our staff meeting today the teachers did a gallery walk of how the routines were implemented and incorporated into the curriculum and shared out using the routine of See, Think, Wonder. The staff saw different ways to make the routines MEANINGFUL and tied to the curriculum or social/emotional needs of the classroom. We discussed the importance of consistency and using these routines as tools to engage our Havel Hawks in deeper meaning and conversation.

Halloween Costume Guidelines

All of us at Havel work diligently to teach children how to solve problems in a non-violent way. We do not want to see children dressed as perpetrators or victims of violence. This includes props and accessories related to blood, gore, and weapons. Parent, please monitor your child’s costume choices: Students wearing this type of costume will not be permitted to participate in the days events. (Please keep in mind we don’t want our youngest students frightened by gory or scary costumes. Those should absolutely be avoided.)

Bagel Day Changes

Our Havel Volunteer League has changed Bagel Companies. We will be purchasing bagels from Elaine's Bagels. Bagel day has also been changed. It will be on Wednesdays throughout the coming months. Please check the dates to know section of the Hawk News along with our website for our Bagel Sale days.

Help Needed

We are in need of a parent to lead our Science Olympiad team. If you would like to know more about these opportunities to help, please email Mrs. Tepper at kristina.tepper@uticak12.org
