  • There will be no graded assignments given this week.
  • You will notice one delineated "hand wash" break before lunch.
  • The teams have also been asked to work in additional hand wash/hand sanitizing breaks throughout the day.

  • All students and staff will be required to wear a mask while attending BCS.
  • The mask should cover the chin, mouth, and nose at all times.
  • Students will be asked to wear their masks on busses, in all classes, and in all hallways.
  • There are exemptions for medically fragile students--please contact me if you would like additional information on how to apply for this exemption.
  • Staff has been asked to work socially distanced "mask breaks" into each school day--outside when possible, and always 6ft. apart.
  • When students are not wearing masks (breakfast and lunch), they will be socially distanced (6ft.)
  • If a student's mask breaks, the school will provide a mask--but is is probably a good idea to send your child with 2 masks.
  • If a student refuses to wear a mask, s/he cannot remain at school--as our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff.
  • Students who repeatedly refuse to wear mask may face consequences such as: detention, in-school suspension, and out of school suspension.

BMS and WILLETTS: breakfast and lunch and water bottles....

All students are being provided a FREE breakfast and FREE lunch through December--if they so choose.

  • There will be one option for breakfast and one option for lunch.
  • MONTHLY menus will be communicated with families very soon.
  • Both breakfast and lunch will be eaten in the cafeteria and social distancing (6ft) will be enforced.
  • We are asking kids to wash hands or hand sanitize before and after eating.
  • There will be hand sanitizing stations in the cafeteria and in the pods/classrooms.
  • Of course, there are sinks available in the pod and in restrooms.
  • Students can also carry personal hand sanitizer.

BMS AND WILLETTS lockers and backpacks....

  • Students will not be using lockers.
  • Students are permitted to carry backpacks that can be stored under their chairs.
  • For our first week of face to face learning, students only need to bring their chromebook with them.
  • We are going to try to limit supplies brought in, but individual teams will communicate what is needed with students and in Team Newsletters the week of 10/19.
  • Please do not send all supplies with your child week one. They do not need to be carrying all of those supplies in their backpacks--thank you!

bms and willetts encore classes (during the first 3 weeks of face to face instruction)

Because our students are staff are not all under one roof at this time, for three weeks, our encore classes will be taught asynchronously. Students will report to a supervised encore classroom, log into their encore google classroom, and complete the posted assignments. Because our encore teachers teach multiple grade levels, they are not able to meet with students at the same time in two different places. This will only be the case for 3 weeks of actual instruction. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me. spalchesko@bcsoh.org or 330.273.0500

Thank you!

BMS AND WILLETTS office procedures in the Covid Era

We are trying to limit the number of people/parent/families coming in our buildings.
  • If a child forgets a homework assignment, s/he can turn it in the next day without penalty.
  • If a child forgets her/his lunch, s/he will be provided with the full district lunch. Please communicate with us if there are special dietary needs that require a lunch to be dropped off--thank you!
  • If a child is dropped off late to school, there is no need to come inside to sign the child in.
  • If a child needs to leave early from BMS, parents can come in the vestibule and sign the child out through a sliding glass window.
  • If a child needs to leave early from Willetts, please use the buzzer outside and directions will be given.
  • If you have a question regarding access to the building, please contact the us at 330.273.0500.

BMS AND WILLETTS NURSES OFFICE, CLINIC, ISOLATION CLINIC, AND RETURN TO SCHOOL

Whenever possible, our staff will treat non-Covid issues within the classroom (such as giving a student a band aid). If this is not possible, the student should be sent to the clinic.

The nurse will assess and determine if the student will stay in the clinic; or if the student is experiencing Covid symptoms, the student may be taken to the Isolation Clinic (conference room next to the clinic at BMS, and room 200 at Willetts). The Isolation Clinic will be used for students who are signing out due to possible Covid symptoms. All other sign in and outs will be done in the main office.

Students who remain in the clinic will include those with non-Covid symptoms, those in need of daily or as-needed medication, diabetic care and/or supplies, need for ice, Band-Aid, basic First Aid or minor injury.

If a student presents with Covid symptoms (fever/chills, sore throat, cough/shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, headache, loss of taste/smell, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, shaking/chills), the student will go to the the isolation clinic, and will be monitored as symptoms require. As stated above, the Isolation Clinic is the office conference room next to the clinic at BMS and room 200 at Willetts. Students will NOT be left alone in the Isolation Clinic--they are being isolated from other students due to possible Covid symptoms (thus the name).

Any student sent to the Isolation Clinic will remain masked, wash hands upon arrival and before departing and sit at least 6 ft. away from others whenever possible. The student will be given a form outlining symptoms and “return-to-school” information. Students will remain in the Isolation room until their parent/guardian arrives to pick up. Parents will be given a form on the procedures for returning to school. The student will be signed out from the Isolation clinic.
