Pine Class News Update

A Note from Pine Class Teachers
This has been an exciting week using our beautiful hand sewn book bags! It was great to hear about all the reading and sharing of books that was going on at home. Please remember to send them back to school everyday as they are an important part of our daily Reading Workshop. Each student will have an opportunity to choose new books this week.
Students all found their own writing spots.
Thinking about what would make a good spot for them to concentrate.
They worked really hard writing about "small moments" in their lives.
Writing about "small moments
We worked on telling a small story across three pages. First, thinking of an idea. Then flipping through the pages of the writing paper and touching each page as we told the story out loud divided up into three parts. Finally, going back and sketching the three parts. Then returning to each page again to add the words. The chart below helps to lay this out!
Mapping our school
Students have been exploring our school and identifying what are parts of our "commons" and what things are private. They made block maps of the school in small groups.
