November 26th - 30th
Highlights from our week:
Shared Reading - Students worked on identifying and creating similes after listening to the story Quick as a Cricket by Audrey Woods. Our class displayed an extensive amount of creativity when comparing people to animals, occupations, and non-living objects.
Writing - Students practiced writing similes about how they felt in the morning and evening before completing a writing project that used similes to describe their own personalities.
Social Studies - Our unit on citizenship continued by investigation how citizens participate in government and why truthfulness is an important quality in a citizen. Students identified ways that they can participate in their school/classroom government and times that they have been truthful.
Math - This week our class continued to work on creating different ways to build the number 10. We have moved forward with learning subtraction strategies using the numbers 0 to 10. Students used cubes, Rekenreks, and story problems to determine solutions to subtraction problems. We will continue learn about and practice subtraction next week.
