Room 604

May 31 - June 3

Thanks a “Latte” for your support.

Thank you for drip, drop-ing into our class to help us brew up projects, art, plan celebrations, and filter through weekly tests.

Please join us on June 10th, 2016 at 8:00 am for a coffee playdate as we celebrate YOU. Infants and toddlers are welcome.

Game Week:

Each student has been assigned a day for this up coming week that they will bring in a board game from home. They will be in charge on giving instructions for the game and then playing with 3 peers. This small group modeling will prepare them for their demonstration speeches what will begin next Monday. We will be going over the format for demonstration speeches this week, and kids should be preparing their own. They are encouraged to pick anything they have a special interest in that they can demonstrate in front of an audience. We will sign up for speeches on Thursday, June 2. Please email me before 12:30 if you plan to attend the following week. Speeches will be delivered each morning (Monday - Friday) beginning at 9am.

Language Arts

We will be finishing up one genre of poems on Tuesday, and then publishing our poems in a flip chart on Wednesday.

We will be wrapping up our novel, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, this week.

I will be doing some reviews on grammar skills and giving quick quizzes to gather data for semester 2 report cards.

We are wrapping up graphing this week. We will take the district assessment on Thursday.

I will then be doing quick mini lessons and giving the students new objectives each day for a quiz on the following day to prepare for final report card grades.

Social Studies

Students are working their way through chapter 12. They are learning about western expansion, including the Louisiana Purchase, and the Expedition of Lewis and Clark.
