About Me
My name is Abby, short for Abigail, Cox and I'm a junior at Newton Conover High School. I've lived here in Conover nearly my whole life, and I love it here. In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends, playing music, riding horses, playing soccer, hiking and camping, and even academic things (i.e. homework, camps, tutoring, etc.).
Music
Music is one of my loves. I can play guitar, saxophone, and piano. I play in a praise band at my church, and for my singer friend whenever she has "gigs".
Friends
I have the best friends in the world. I absolutely love hanging out with all of them.
Horses
Another love of my life is horses. My horse, Challenger, to be exact. He's 3 years old now, and I've had him since he was born. I also love riding horses, taking care of horses, everything. I want to be an equine vet when I graduate college, so...
Outdoors
I love the outdoors. I love hiking, camping, fishing, hammocking. I guess you could say I'm an outdoorsy person.
Summer
This past summer was the busiest of my life. I attended HOBY leadership conference, Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics at ECU, Carolina Cross Connection, and CVYSA team camp.
Soccer
I love soccer. I've been on the NCHS varsity team since my freshman year, and I play club at CVYSA.
Wilson's Creek
Wilson's Creek is my home away from home. Much of my family has lived there for as long as I can remember, and longer.
NC State
Whether or not I attend NC State University in 2 years, it is most likely where I will earn my Veterinary Degree, and I will always be a wolfpack fan.
Photography
I also really like to take pictures. I got a photography camera a few years ago, and I've put it to good use. Challenger (my horse) is my favorite subject!
My Science Experience
I have taken Honors Earth Science, Honors Biology, and Honors Chemistry here at Newton Conover. Also, I attended SVSM this past summer where I spent a month experimenting and studying a little bit of atmospheric science, and a lot of biotechnology, gene manipulating, DNA sequencing, etc.
Science is one of my favorite subjects because I love learning how the world works. I want to be a veterinarian in the future, so I am eager to learn as much about science and how things work as I can.
