Message from Dr. Fay & Mrs. Henson
Dear Crossroads Parents,
Please join us in congratulating our Crossroads Teacher of the Year candidates: Mrs. Jennifer McConnaughhay, Mrs. Lindsey Remiger, and Mrs. Kate Lindvall. All of our candidates are nominated by fellow staff members, which makes this an even more rewarding honor.
We also ask our staff to write why they feel each candidate deserves the honor, here are some of the reasons:
Mrs. Jenny McConnaughhay - “She sets high expectations for her students, which makes them work hard and do their very best. She meets students where they are and helps them get where they need to be. She is gentle, kind, and caring. Her students know she cares for them and wants them to grow and do well.”
Mrs. Lindsey Remiger - “She does an amazing job with her students! She loves them and is one of their biggest advocates. She is great at building relationships with her families. She is very passionate about her job and it shows in how she interacts with her students. Her students are lucky to have her.”
Mrs. Kate Lindvall - “She is an amazing teacher! She works tirelessly to develop innovative lessons for her students. She is fun and engaging all while making strong connections with her students. Crossroads is lucky to have her!”
The 2021-2022 Crossroads Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Lindsey Remiger! Congratulations!
Have a wonderful December!

Our Students of the Month - November
Science Fair
Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.
We sent home lime green car tags with all students on their first day of school, 8/24. If you need additional tags, please check in the main office. ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***
When you drive through the car lanes, please have the lime green car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.
A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 pm. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no. Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We will no longer be sending a text about rainy day dismissals.
The expectation is all parents will have the lime green car tags ready to go by August 30. If you have any questions or thoughts, please let us know.
Please review our arrival and dismissal maps below:
Message From Nurse Maddie
Just a friendly reminder the motion passed during the September 28th Board of Education meeting (referred to as the new WSD-modified quarantine) allows for students who have been placed on quarantine due to a school exposure to attend school during this time if the student remains symptom-free and wears a well-fitted mask consistently and appropriately for the duration of the 14 day quarantine period.
If your student was exposed outside of school they will still need to quarantine at home at this time. You can still qualify for shortened quarantine by testing out early on day 5-6 after exposure and return to school symptom free and with a negative test on day 8.
You can send test results to amandawhiteaker@wsdr4.org or fax them to 636-445-5324. Please do not hesitate to contact Nurse Maddie if you have any questions. Have a healthy and happy holiday season!PTA Update!
Hi Corgis!
November was another busy month for the PTA and we appreciate everyone’s support so much!
We had a fantastic turnout at our Duke’s Dining Night! Thank you to everyone who showed up for some tasty BBQ and a special thank you to Duke’s owners, Crossroads own Pierre family, for partnering with us for the event.
Due to gathering restrictions, we were not able to have our annual Veterans Day assembly. But we went virtual and created an amazing video to honor the many veterans and service members in our community. It incorporated most aspects of our traditional assembly including student essays, music, a guest speaker and tributes to all of the veterans. Thank you to Mark Roach and Dr. Fay for all of their hard work on this project. You can view the video at the following link.

We are bringing back a staff favorite this year, the cookie exchange! We love taking this opportunity to show the Crossroads teachers and staff how much we appreciate them by spoiling them with lots of goodies. And we need your help with donations of treats! It doesn't have to be just cookies - bars, brownies and other holiday favorites are great too! Homemade or store bought - you do what's easiest for you and your family! Please have your donations to the front office by the morning of Friday, December 10th. If you have any questions, please email crecookieexchange@gmail.com. You can sign up to bring treats at: www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D49A8AC29A0FD0-annual.
As you are doing your holiday shopping, please keep a couple of ways to support Crossroads in mind. If you love to give personalized gifts or photo cards, check out minted.com and not only will Crossroads get a percentage back when you use our code, FUNDRAISECROSSROADSPTA, but you will get a 20% discount! Talk about a win-win!
If you are an Amazon shopper, make sure that you are set up with AmazonSmile and a percentage of every eligible purchase will automatically be donated back to Crossroads. It just takes a moment to set up and then it's a default setting for every purchase! Plus, many teachers have Amazon wish lists for their classrooms if you are looking for gift ideas.
We appreciate your support!

You Shop, The School Gets Paid!
Did you know that when you shop on Amazon, it’s easy for Crossroads to get a small percentage from your purchase? All you have to do is shop through AmazonSmile instead of Amazon. Once you’ve set up your account, your shopping experience will be identical. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Crossroads Elementary PTA would be grateful to be the charity you choose. Go to smile.amazon.com to get started. Once you’ve set this up, it’s easy to set up your Amazon app to link to AmazonSmile as well.
