HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 6 - 13 March 2020
FROM GEORDIE:
Hey there everyone,
Another great week is coming to a close and there has been plenty happening here at Holy Rosary. Our Year 6s have all arrived back safely, with many happy memories of good times spent with awesome friends. Words can’t explain how proud I was of the whole group. They looked after each other and treated each other with respect, they encouraged each other when they needed help stepping out of their comfort zone and they included each other in all their activities. As you can understand this does not happen without a lot of hard work from our dedicated team of staff and I would like to thank Dave, Kate, Aleana, Robyn, Ash, Lachie, Nicole as well as our nurses Claire and Shelley for the effort they put into making this a success. It is a big deal to leave your families and be on call 24/7 for the week!
Many of you may have noticed that the demountable is now in place and the final wiring and safety checks are being completed. The room comes complete with air conditioning and will be a really nice space for our kids. I believe Liz is already looking into an outdoor setting for her new deck!
There are some VERY excited students at Holy Rosary at the moment with Nathan and his team busily organising the Dads and Kids Campout on Saturday night. Again, a heap of work has gone into this and I would like to thank everyone involved… It is sure to be awesome fun!
Finally, we will continue to send regular communication about the COVID-19 virus as it comes to hand. If you have not been receiving these emails, please let the office know so that we can update your details. I would like to thank everyone who has been travelling internationally for giving me a call at school. So far a number of parents have been in touch and this helps keep us informed and able to support people in any way we can.
I hope you have a great weekend.

HOLY ROSARY 2020 ENTERTAINMENT BOOK
Entertainment Memberships are now 100% digital. Saying goodbye to the iconic hard copy Book wasn't an easy decision, but it significantly simplifies the experience for our fundraisers, reduces our environmental impact and allows us to provide flexibility for members and merchants.
BENEFITS OF THE DIGITAL APP INCLUDE:
- User-friendly: Instantly search and redeem offers or check out the Near Me tab to find offers, wherever you are.
- Memberships start anytime: Flexible start date, Memberships are valid for 12 months from when you activate (15 months if you take advantage of the Early Bird offer now on in Feb/March!)..
- New offers automatically added: As soon as we sign a new offer, you get access to it. No more waiting for the next print run!
- Multiple devices: You can still share your Membership with your family. Encourage your partner and kids to download the App so they can access valuable savings when out.
- Convenient: The App means that as long as you have your phone, you have your Membership too (no more lugging around the book).
- Easy gifting: We've made it simpler than ever to gift an EntertainmentMembership – simply purchase from your chosen fundraiser and the gift Membership will be delivered instantly to your inbox.
- 3 Different Memberships: there are 3 different membership levels you can purchase:
- Single City Membership $70
- Multi City Membership $120 (all cities in Australia, New Zealand and Bali)
- Multi Plus Membership $230 (Same as Multi City but for 2 years)

LIBRARY NEWS
The HR travelling library visited our PP, year 1s and year 2s this week and they were so excited to be able to borrow books. Upper years are making great use of the Wheelers ePlatform and I can see they are doing some great reading, as well as listening to audiobooks. I am really looking forward to having borrowing sessions in the library very soon, so please remember to send your bags into school and leave them there.
In week 9, our Library Monitors will be running our Second Hand Book Sale for Project Compassion. So if you have any second hand books you would like to donate, please hang onto them (as the library is very full at the moment) and drop them off at the beginning of week 9. Thank you!
Have a great weekend

GENERAL NOTICES
The Gibb (River Road) Challenge 2020 – ‘Wheelie Tyred’
In mid-May we will be embarking on an adventure to the Kimberley, participating in the 700km Gibb Challenge, cycling mountain bikes along the notoriously gnarly Gibb River Road. Although an adventure in itself, the primary driver behind our participation is to raise funds for Royal Flying Doctor’s Service (RFDS). The RFDS play a critical role in supporting health care provision across our vast state.
Having previously participated in this event, Mark has fired up the red dirt ambitions of a new motley crew of committed dads who have put their hands-up to support this worthy beneficiary. Our team, ‘Wheelie Tyred’, have drawn together from hours spent rolling on the dirt and pavement in preparation for this event. If you would like to sponsor the team and lend support to the RFDS please follow the link below. All contributions graciously received.

At the Dads’ and Kids’ Campout this Saturday, ‘Wheelie Tyred’ will be putting on two events to assist with “pumping the boys’ tyres a little”: There will be a raffle draw held after dinner, with $1000 of prizes for the purchase of a $5 ticket; and later a small stand selling ‘movie treats’ to aid the kids’ enjoyment of the movie. These additional funds will support the costs associated with the team’s preparation, travel and expenses, allowing us the privilege of getting to the start line and participating in this amazing event. Bring your wallets dads!
With sincere thanks,
Mark Adkins, Jeff Ferguson, Gav Vucic and Craig Foster
