News from Ms. Moltisanti
The entire Mintz family send best wishes to Amber Cottone and her family as they welcome a new baby boy to their family! We want to welcome Jenine Cowan, an HCPS teacher, who will take over Mrs. Cottone's classes for the remainder of the year.
I want to congratulate the classes and students who will represent Mintz at this year's STEM Fair. Here are each of our winning projects:
Taste Perception by Ms. Walker’s First Grade Class
How does color affect taste perception?
Powerful Paper by Ms. Ellerman’s 2nd Grade Class
How does the shape of paper folding affect it's strength?
Nom Nom Birds by Jacob, 5th
How does the time of day affect how many Hummingbirds come to eat?
Free the End by Saniya, 5th
Does the tool you use to defeat the Minecraft Ender Dragon effect the amount of time it takes?
Farthest Kick by Gavin, 4th
How does the way you kick a soccer ball affect how far it rolls?
Flying High by Sylee, 4th
How does the paper weight of airplanes effect on distance they fly?
Mask Up by Atticus and Zakaylah, 5th
Which type of mask blocks water best? Cloth vs paper
Garbage Breakdown by Janiya, Brooklynn, and Alyssa, 5th
How does recycling affect the amount of trash?
I am really proud of our Mintz Morning Show Crew. These student leaders are tracking data each day on how many masks we have to hand out to students. They have even created emergency mask kits so students who forget masks can have a spare in their backpacks. Please help your child to remember a mask each day so we can reach our Safety WIG of 100% of students bringing a mask to school each and every day!

Habit 5 - Seek First to be Understand Then to be Understood
With today's busy schedules, we need to work hard to develop Habit 5 - Seek first to understand, then to be understood. We must begin active listening. Our eyes are on the speaker, our ears are hearing what is being said and we listen with our heart to feel the emotions. Try this family activity to see how well your active listening skills are!
