CBA Elementary Lion Link 🐾
Your link between home and school | November 3, 2023
Hello CBA Families,
Welcome to your weekly edition of Lion Link, your link between home and school! This week's newsletter is chock full of upcoming events and reminders. Be sure to bookmark it, or save it to your home screen, to refer back to it throughout the week.
We hope that everyone enjoyed our PAC Halloween Parade and Party! Our PAC goes above and beyond to create a truly wonderful experience for our students and they really outdid themselves this year! We are extremely grateful for the community support without which this would not be possible! Thank you to all who pitched in to make the day such a great success.
From CBA Mario World in the gym, complete with real, working Mystery Boxes and Lava Road, to the potion making and fortune teller, it was an immersive experience! We wrapped it up with our annual Halloween Parade led by last year's teacher costume contest winners, Mrs. Scott and Ms. Carter, and the grand finale....mummifying the teachers! Congratulations to this year's teacher costume contest winners, Mr. Pat and Mr. McCall who dressed as Rockstar Ken and Workout Ken!
Only a couple of days later, we were at it again, participating in Outdoor Classroom Day! Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child’s day. Teachers took children outdoors to play and learn. All year round, the Outdoor Classroom Day community campaigns for more time outdoors every day. We incorporated activities from Write Out, a chance for students to get writing outside! It's one of our favorite days of the year, as a school!
Thank you again for all of your support in making learning fun for our students! We appreciate you!
Just a few reminders for our families:
- School is closed on Friday, November 10th
- The academic day is from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Please do your best to have students at school on time. If you drop off after 8:30am, please understand that teachers have begun their daily routines.
Thank you,
The CBA Team

Health Screenings
Dear Parent/Guardian:
The PA Departments of Health and Education mandate annual student health screenings provided as a part of the School Health Services Program. A WCASD nurse will be visiting our school on November 8th & 9th to perform these screenings for our students. A report with your child’s results will be provided for your review. We encourage you to keep this record and/or share with your physician. Separate referral letters will be sent when vision or hearing results do not meet the standard range of normal.
The standard screenings to be performed are listed below:
* Vision – Far & Near Acuity – All grades yearly Plus Lens & Color – 1st grade/new students not previously screened
* Stereo/Depth Perception – 2nd grade/new students not previously screened
NOTE: The vision screenings are not a substitute for a comprehensive eye examination by an eye care specialist. The American Optometric Association recommends eye examinations every two years during the school age years.
* Hearing – Grades K-3/new students not previously screened
* Height/Weight - All grades
* BMI – All grades
Please feel free to contact the WCASD school nurse at 484-266-1306 with any questions.
Thank you
