Principal's Message:
Dear Weibel Families,
It has been a wonderful first month of school. Thank you to all who attended Back to School Night 2021. We had an amazing turnout for both virtual BTSN in August and in September. As students are relearning their routines and expectations, our school has been focusing on character development. During the month of October, our school-wide focus is “Respect for Others” (I appreciate all people and treat them fairly). Please continue to have conversations with your child about the importance of respecting others. All students benefit from these positive reminders after being away from in-person school for more than a year.
The next few months are filled with many traditions. However, some will look different this year as we continue to prioritize student health and safety. The school will not conduct our costume parade at the end of this month. Students are welcomed to wear their costumes to school, under teacher guidelines. I am sure they will still have lots of fun in their class and at recess.
Please scroll down to see our PTO section on this newsletter. PTO will no longer use allroom emails to communicate with you. PTO weekly emails will only be sent to families who join PTO. We highly encourage you to join to support Weibel students/teachers and all the activities PTO organizes. Weibel staff is so appreciative of everything this group has done for our school, students, and staff.
The best way to reach me is via email at annielee@fusdk12.net. If you would like to talk to the main office, please call at (510)651-6958 (press 7 for the attendance line).
Thank you and I look forward to a wonderful school year. Go Wildcats!

Ms. Lee

COUNSELORS CORNER
Hi everyone,
We are so glad to be a month into school and getting to see all of the growth and energy from our students. The one area we are noticing that needs more attention for our students is around social interactions with peers. Ways of relating to peers and adults seem to be behind what we would typically expect for specific age groups here at Weibel. Areas we are working to support students with are reading social cues, knowing right from wrong, and understanding and showing respect for others. I will be hosting a parent talk on how to support your child socially and academically post quarantine to address these concerns and more! Details are here. October is National Bully Prevention Month, please take some time to talk to your child about what it is and how to handle it as well as how to keep from being a bully. More information here. We are also working on the character trait of Respect this month. We appreciate all that you are doing at home to support your child in being respectful, kind, and thoughtful citizens. We know that with all of us working together we can get our students to a place that feels good for everyone!
