Basketball TONIGHT!

Just a reminder that tonight Titans Basketball team will take on Oldham County for the Regional Championship. Game time is 7:00pm at Henry County.

Have you driven a Ford lately?

Join in the Project Graduation Committee fundraiser sponsored by O’Brien Ford of Shelbyille! On Saturday, March 28, 2015 stop by the SCHS parking lot between 10:00am and 2:00pm. O’Brien Ford will be bring many of their new cars to SCHS for test drives. For every adult that takes a free 5 minute test drive of a Ford automobile around the parking lot, O’Brien Ford will donate $20 to Project Graduation !Show up, drive, and help the Project Graduation event !

JROTC Cadets and Parents:

1 March – BATTALION ACTIVITY - the upper classman are looking to plan an event that involves roller skating. This will be a mandatory event for all cadets. Parent Chaperones will be needed. More info will be provided at the beginning of March.

JROTC Awards Ceremony:

31 March – JROTC AWARD CEREMONY - this is mandatory ceremony for all our cadets. Cadets will be receiving all their awards they achieved during this school year. LTC Gramig and MSG Bethea invite every parent, family member, and friends of the cadets to come to the school’s Performing Arts Center at 6 PM to see and congratulate the cadets on their individual achievements.

Color Guard Clinic:

The Collins Color Guard Clinic originally schedule for March 7 has been reschedule to Friday, March 20th from 4-7pm. Please see Mr. Osborne in the band room for more details.

Martha Layne Collins High School is seeking nominations for a parent representative to serve on the Site Based Decision Making Council. Currently, there are two seats available on the council: A one year term beginning July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016, and a two year term beginning July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017. Please let us know which term you would like to run for. The Site Based Decision Making Council (SBDM) meets monthly at the high school. The school council will be leading issues dealing with student achievement, including interviewing teacher candidates, a 1:1 computer initiative, and a change to the daily schedule.


Deadline: All nomination forms must be received before 3:00pm on Friday, March 20th, 2015. Please return this completed nomination form to the front desk at MLCHS or by email to our Youth Service Coordinator, Leesa Stivers at leesa.stivers@shelby.kyschools.us. Please call (502)647-1160 with any questions.


Qualifications: A parent council member shall be a parent, step parent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student who will be in the 9th through 12th grade attending CHS during the council member’s term of office. A parent is ineligible if he/she is an employee or a relative of an employee (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law) of CHS or the district central office. A parent is also ineligible if he/she is a local school board member or the spouse of a local school board member.


The election will be held on Thursday, March 26th, 2015, from to 11am to 7pm.
