Workshop Meeting
Bond Refunding Update
Scott Shearer from PFM Financial Advisors discussed the opportunity to call bonds this spring that could yield an estimated $325,000 in savings. Currently at 4%, he believes they can be reduced to approximately 3.25%.
Parkland for Parkland Bracelet Campaign Recognition
The Board recognized Senior Class Advisor/Teacher Mrs. Jen Young and students Collin and Kyleigh Duff who created rubber bracelets that were sold for $2 each to raise money for families afflicted by the violence at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The campaign raised almost $11,000 thus far.
2018-19 Budgets for CLIU, LCCC and LCTI
John Vignone, Director of Business Administration, reviewed this summary of the three entity budgets that Parkland helps to support: Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit, Lehigh Carbon Community College, and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute.
2018-19 Staffing Update
Dr. Rod Troutman, Assistant Superintendent, presented a report on anticipated District Staffing needs for the 2018-19 school year. View his report here.
Regular Meeting
Lisa Roth and Rob Cohen would not give approval for cyber school mandated payments to illustrate their stance that cyber charters are not educating students properly and that taxpayers should not be required to fund them.
Roundtable
David Kennedy gave the LCCC monthly report.
The public is cordially invited to attend the Community Advisory Council Meeting on April 12th at 6:15 p.m. in the Parkland High School Library Classroom. The topic of the meeting will be the “Annual State of the District Presentation.” It will be given by Superintendent Richard Sniscak, Assistant Superintendent Rodney Troutman, and Assistant to the Superintendent for Operations Tracy Smith.
