Importance of School Attendance
Timely school attendance matters everyday, and our parents can make a difference in sharing how important it is to go to school with their children. See you in class soon! https://bit.ly/3w3YZwc
The US Department of Education states as many as one in six students are considered chronically absent. But CUSD is committed to helping students and families with school attendance.
The positive impact of being in school everyday is evident. It is a definite predictor of student outcomes. Let's give all our kids a chance by being on time everyday and continue to introduce them to hands-on, memorable learning experiences.
If your student is absent, please be sure you call the attendance line which is available 24 hours a day, to report the absence.

March is...Music in Our Schools Month
For more than 30 years, March has been officially designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for the observance of Music In Our Schools MonthĀ® (MIOSMĀ®), the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.
The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children ā and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music. MIOSM is an opportunity for music teachers to bring their music programs to the attention of the school and the community, and to display the benefits that school music brings to students of all ages.

Costco Recognizes Our Student
Sixth grade students in Mrs. Scott's class put their writing skills to good use in writing to local businesses where they saw a need for change. In their persuasive business letter, each student shared positive details about their business of choice as well as note something constructive with a solution. A few students have already received responses from local businesses. Xavian Guerrero is one of those students. When writing to a local Costco, Xavian made the suggestion that it would be a wonderful addition to their business to welcome shoppers with complimentary flavored popcorn at the store's entrance. In response, Xavian received a wonderful letter from the store manager... and more than enough popcorn to share with his classmates.
Great job Xavian! Thank you, Costco, for your response and generosity!
