Anti-Hero
Macbeth fills the role of being an anti-hero really well. In the beginning, Macbeth was a hero and well admired by many, but he lost sight of what he was. He had qualities of a leader like being fearless, prideful, and strong. His flaws were that he was easily manipulated by the things around him. He was manipulated particularly by the three witches and Lady Macbeth. When the witches gave him the prophecies he immediately was enamored by the ideas of being king and thane of Cawdor and Glamis that he threw away the life and morals he had before. He was further tarnished by his wife when she manipulated him into murdering King Duncan, and along the line murdering many more innocent people to gain power and the throne. He fell when he first listened to the witches, and chose to follow their path. He ended up where did by not trusting and listening to himself, and in the end his lust for power is what got him killed.
I think my favorite anti-hero would be V from V for Vendetta. He stands for something that people do not even know they should be standing for because they have been manipulated and brain-washed by the government to know only what they are told. V's monster he had to go against was the British government and Chancellor Sutler, and he vowed to remove them on the 5th of November by blowing up parliament and taking their lives. He was successful in taking them out, and exposing all the lies and deceit that they implemented over the citizens for years. It may have cost his life, but he got his message across and his mission was accomplished.
