MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
155th EDITION: May 8, 2020
From the Desk of Mr. Mike Shukis
WE ARE ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
During this stressful time, it can become a little difficult to have belief in or have faith in those around us or even in ourselves. Without a humble and reasonable confidence in our own powers and in those around us, it is not so easy to find success or a sense of happiness. To find the faith needed in each other during difficult times, I believe it is important to remember Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”. And for us, as a Marian community, I prefer, “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us”. Right now our minds can easily be filled, dominated, or obsessed by what is happening in our world today. By having another and more positive pattern placed at the forefront of our mind, “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us”, can help give us the boost we need to strengthen our faith in each other and to get us through whatever may come our way.
The blows of life and the multiplication of problems tend to sap, even from the best of us, our energy and leaves us discouraged. This can and will obscure who we really are-our true self. I believe it is essential at this time to bring this down to a more simple level done with an attitude of humility that will convince us that we in the Marian community will not be defeated by current events. We know that “Christ lives at Marian” and our faith tells us “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us”. A famous psychiatrist, Dr. Karl Menninger once said that attitudes are more important than facts. Any fact facing us, however difficult, even
seemingly hopeless, is not so important as our attitude toward that fact. Let’s fill our minds with thoughts of faith, confidence, and security in knowing who we really are, children of God.
