WMS Family Newsletter
September 2018
Warhawk Families -
I want to share a story with you about the Warhawk spirit.
Last week, I had a scholar approach me in the halls who said, "Mrs. Mishler, it looks like you need a hug." I replied, "I would love one!" He then said, "I need one, too." I closed my eyes to keep the tears from falling and took a deep breath. When I opened my eyes, there was a line of scholars waiting to give more hugs. This exchange took my breath away.
In the midst of our grief, our kids have given us hope and been such a strong light for us. It is in moments like these that we know the Warhawk spirit is alive and well.
We greatly appreciate your emails, sympathies, and prayers that you have both outwardly expressed and those you have kept in your hearts.
Go Warhawks! And remember, you belong here.

WMS Discipline Guidelines
Violations of student handbook policies will be called "everyday infractions", and each violation is cumulative. For example, a scholar who forgot their ID and is tardy multiple times in one day will receive multiple infractions. A scholar's everyday infractions will start over at the semester break.
The chart below shows how the accumulation of violations influences the associated consequence at WMS. As of the end of the day on Tuesday, September 4th, all scholars have been reset to a clean slate with zero (0) everyday infractions.
Scholars will receive notification of a detention consequence at the time the infraction is logged with the appropriate report date and time. Detentions will be served on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
If you have questions, please reach out to your scholar's Assistant Principal: Mr. Grant Hackethorn (A-L, ghackethorn@csisd.org) or Mr. Jeremy Stewart (M-Z, jstewart@csisd.org).
Student Home Access Center Accounts (HAC) and NEW Email Alerts in HAC
Five years ago we began offering students the opportunity to create their own Home Access Center (HAC) account to view their grades- instead of having to log in as their parents. It has been very successful and we are continuing this year to offer this ability to our students grades 5 and up.
Signing up for a HAC Account:
- Here's the form for 2018-2019 (the link is the same from last year): Student HAC Accounts .
- It's a super simple process- the students just fill out the form {they must have an email address} and we will create their account and send them the login information. Each account has to be created individually so it's not automatically created which is why there is a delay. During the first few weeks of school I would expect about about two weeks turn around time as we have a large number of users signing up for accounts and each one is created individually. After several weeks the turn around time should be approximately 24 hours.
- The biggest problem we have with these accounts is that students enter incorrect/invalid email addresses on the form. So we create their account and try to email them with the login details and are not able to. Please tell them to carefully enter the email address.
If a student had a HAC Account last year:
- Students do NOT need to fill out the form again as their account is still active.
- If a student has forgotten their password they can retrieve it by visiting the Home Access Center login page and clicking on the forgotten password link. If they continue to have issues they can email studenthac@csisd.org.
