The Weekly Update #4
December 2nd, 2021

A LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Happy New Year Wildcats,
We made it to 2022! I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work and patience during the start of this unusual school year.
As we continue to navigate school under fluctuating circumstances, here are some things you and your student can talk about this month:
Attendance is important. Please ensure that your student is showing up for school on time every day, and attending all of their classes. You can do this by going onto your Skyward account. If you need help getting access or don’t know your login information, please contact the front office and they can direct you to the appropriate person for help.
Safety is also another important subject to discuss with your student(s). Our school is a modern, attractive, and well-organized space for learning. We all have a responsibility for its care and maintenance. If a student is aware that anyone has damaged or will damage property, it’s important that they share this information. We also want to make sure our students and staff are leaving the school better than they found it. Lead by example; pick up wandering trash as you walk by, hold a door for someone behind you, or smile and say, “good morning,” to someone you don’t know. Even more valuable and important than the building are the students who populate its halls. Please notify staff if you become aware that any student’s safety is in jeopardy.
January is a time of renewal, so let’s start the year off right. Show up, do the work and finish the month strong!
Go Cats,
Nate Salisbury
Principal
A LOOK AT DECEMBER

DON'T FORGET!

Attention all actors, singers, and dancers! Do you like Hamilton? Or maybe Legally Blonde? Sign up on the Choir Room door for an audition on January 5 or 6 to be part of our Spring Musical Review. All you need is 30 - 60 seconds of your best Broadway performance. You can sing karaoke or bring sheet music. Please email Mr. McCoy for more information.
VOTE 2022 BOND
On February 8, 2022, Oak Harbor Public Schools will request the passage of a bond package totaling $323 million. Thankfully, Oak Harbor Public Schools is set to receive nearly $140 million from the state and the Department of Defense. The Oak Harbor community will need to agree to pay for the remaining balance of roughly $184 million. In 2006, Oak Harbor voters passed the bond election. Currently, the rate of this bond is a rate of $1.79 per $1,000 of assessed property value. That bond will be completely paid off by December of 2022, meaning this is a replacement bond.
This is not to be confused with the local levy that was passed in 2021. Local levies are particularly powerful due to local control. However, in order to build new schools, the voters must agree to a bond package. We have compiled all of the pertinent information to make sure you're informed when casting your vote.
