A Quick Glimpse into our Weekly Happenings
Celebrate Walk and Bike to School Day-October 6
This is a great time for families to try out walking or biking to school. Not only are walking and biking to school fun, they're also healthy, green and can help students come to school more ready to learn.
Please Join Us!
Join us on Wednesday, September 29 from 5:30 to 7:00 to pull weeds and tidy up the Galtier School grounds. Bring your gardening gloves and meet us on the northside (Edmund Avenue) by door 11.
K-1 Studio Update
Ms. Chambers’ first grade class has been working on building reading stamina, practicing sound spelling and developing their perseverance when math is hard because it means our brains are learning. We focused this week on practicing what it means to partner read. Students have also started reading on RAZ Kids. FAST reading testing has just about finished up and we are excited to start our reading small groups! In math, we also practiced using our app called ST Math in Clever. Students can also practice this awesome math app at home! In writing we are sounding out words and learning to add both illustrations and words to our stories just like some well known authors we looked at that both illustrate and author their own books.

PBIS SEPTEMBER AWARD CELEBRATION
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework for improving and integrating all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. It is a way to support everyone – especially students with disabilities – to create the kinds of schools where all students are successful.
PBIS isn’t a curriculum we have purchased or something we learn during a one-day professional development training. It is a commitment to addressing student behavior through systems change. When it’s implemented well, students achieve improved social and academic outcomes, schools experience reduced exclusionary discipline practices, and school personnel feel more effective.
A wonderful part of our PBIS traditions are our monthly award assemblies where our scholars are recognized for being respectful, being responsible and being safe. We have three award for EACH classroom: mountain climber, student of the month and the character trait awards. This month's character trait was RESPECT.
We usually invite families to attend these assemblies, but with Covid protocols in place, we will be doing our assemblies virtually this year.
Please join us celebrating our glorious gators virtually on Friday, October 1st at 10:00.
