Stephen Hawking
An English theoretical physicist and cosmetologist.
Childhood
Stephen Hawking was born on January 8th, 1942, in Oxford, England.
He was born into a family of thinkers. His father and mother had both attended Oxford University. They were both very intelligent individuals.
Accomplishments
He went on to research cosmetology in Cambridge. After gaining his Ph.D. he became first a Research Fellow, and later on a Professional Fellow at Gonville and Caius College.
Stephen has earned twelve degrees throughout his lifetime,
and has about nine movies.
He is one of the most famous physicists in the world.
Disability
Stephen has a disease called ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
Overtime, this disease eventually made most of his body paralyzed. He can no longer move any part of his body, except his cheeks.
The Computer
Stephen uses a tablet attached to the arm of his wheelchair to communicate. This computer was sponsored and provided by IntelĀ® Corporation. The main interface to the computer is a program called EZ Keys, written by Words Plus Inc. Stephen can control this computer with his cheeks, and cheek movement is detected by an infrared switch that is mounted onto his spectacles.
