Give Back

During this season of giving, we spend quite a bit of time, talking about being thankful, in our class. As a way to make this concept more meaningful to the children, we try to participate in a service project each year. This year, we would like to tie our umbrella theme of books to our service project; we would like to host a Book drive. In addition, Brooks School is hosting a Winter Gear drive, by collecting new scarves, hats, mittens, gloves, coats, and boots. We have been talking about how lucky we are to have books to read, coats to keep us warm, etc. Therefore, we thought books and winter gear are two things we have talked about and to which children can easily relate. PLEASE do not feel obligated. It is simply an extension of what we will be learning in class and an opportunity to make the concepts more meaningful.

We will start collecting things next week and the collection will culminate at our Grateful Gala, on December 5. We have boxes set up in the classroom, to collect the items; so, feel free to send them with your children or bring them to the Gala. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to talk with you.
