Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.

A Note from Principal Purfurst

Thank you all for a great Back-to-School night and first two days of school! It has been exciting to see all of our families and students back in the building!

All schools in Colorado are currently experiencing challenges in hiring teachers and staff. If you or someone you know is interested in helping support children, please don't hesitate to apply to work in 27J Schools! We are currently looking to hire one or more teachers to bring down class sizes, so if you know of a teacher who would be interested in joining us at Padilla, please encourage them to apply!

Safety Information:

Starting Friday (the 12th) we created a yellow line in front of the school that we are asking parents to stay behind at the end of the day as students are dismissed from school. Our teachers are asked to ensure that they monitor students until they have been picked up, they are on the bus or they have left campus on their bike etc. First grade students will be dismissed at 3:25 through the front doors and will be escorted to the bus or they will wait with their teacher until their ride has been identified. Kindergarten and second through fifth grades will continue to be dismissed from their normal locations at their normal times. Thank you for your help with this!

Parking Lot: A few reminders as we move into our second week of school:

  • Please stay in your car if you are dropping your student off or picking them up in the “Hug and Go” lane. If you need to get out of your car, please park in the lot to do so.

  • Please pull forward as far as you can before having your student exit your vehicle on the passenger side.

  • Please use one of our crosswalks when walking through the lot or across the street when approaching the school.

Evacuation Drill:

We will practice our first evacuation drill of the school year this Friday the 19th at 9:30 am. We will share with you our progress following the completion of the drill Friday morning. Please let me know if you would like to observe or participate in this drill.

Thank you!

School Meals and Free/Reduced Meal Applications

Last year all students were able to eat breakfast and lunch for free thanks to a waiver from the USDA waivers. Unfortunately those waivers are expiring. But many students are still eligible for free or reduced cost meals! Applications for free/reduced meals can be found here! Even if you've previously applied, new applications are required each year, so please make sure to fill out an application!

Paying for Breakfast and Lunches

If you need to add money to your child's account for breakfast or lunch, you can do so by paying online, or bringing cash or a check to the school. Click here for more information!

Attendance

Attendance is an important piece of helping your child be successful at school! Please help us give your child every chance to succeed by getting them to school on time, every day, unless they are sick.

How sick is too sick to come to school? Click here to see the guidance we use from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

If your child will be out of school, please be sure to call our attendance line at 303-655-5111.

Teachers begin to walk students into the school starting at 7:45 AM each morning. If your child arrives after that time, they will need to enter the building through the main doors at the front of the building.

School begins at 7:50 AM. If you child arrives after 7:50 AM, they will need to be signed in at the main office.
