Mrs. James' Kindergarten News
December 11, 2015
Dear Kindergarten Families,
We had such a fun filled week! The highlight was going to Fernbank Museum! We started the trip out with an amazing "Wonders of the Arctic" IMAX movie and continued the day with exploring all the wonderful exhibits. Our favorites were the science sensory room, the nature playground and the Christmas trees around the world exhibit! Below are some pictures from the trip and some from today's taste test party.
I will not be in school on Monday, so feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns for that day. Ms. Irshadullah will be with the kids. I can't believe we only have one more week before winter break! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
1. Winter Celebration
We will be having our Elementary Winter Celebration on Thursday, December 17th. Ms. Fichter sent out a detailed email all about this fun day on Wednesday evening. Please sign up for materials or to volunteer if you are able! The materials sign up genius can be found below - be on the look out for the volunteer sign up from Mrs. Aimee Nobile!
Materials- If you still can’t volunteer your time, don’t forget to donate some materials by clicking on this link: Winter Celebration Materials Sign-Up
2. Media Center:
On Monday 12/14, our media center visit will comprise of just returning books and reading books in the media center. We will not be taking out new books before the winter break. Please send your child in on Monday with their books to return. Thank you!
3. NO Clubs After School Next Week
We have some fantastic readers in our class! It makes me one very proud teacher! If you have any books at home (especially nonfiction books) that you are no longer using, please consider donating them to our classroom library! I would greatly appreciate any and all books that we can collect to have more for our students to choose from.
**Please see prize box donation details below. Thank you!**
STATE TAX CREDIT APPLICATION
Dear FSA Families,
I would like to remind you about the State Tax Credit Scholarship Program.
Please be informed that even if you make a joint application for $2,500, most likely half of it will be approved. Last year 60% of it was approved since this program is very popular and they have more applications than the State’s limit. So each year they proportion the amounts to give a chance to everyone who applied before the deadline. You don’t need to pay anything at this time. You can pay the approved amount around late March. They will inform you of the approved amount around late January. You don’t lose anything because you will receive a tax credit on your state income taxes and a charitable deduction on your federal incomes taxes for the amount of your contribution. This is a great opportunity for our families and also for our school.
Please see details HERE and make your application before the December 15 deadline. Thank you for all you do.
ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN - OUR GOAL IS 100% PARTICIPATION
Dear FSA Families,
Our Annual Giving Campaign is well on its way and we would like for you to be a part of the giving. Our goal is 100% participation.
Please note that you may donate at any amount level. It is more important that you participate.
Please find the details here: http://fultonscienceacademy.org/giving-back/
Thank you for all you do.
Empty Water Bottles Needed!
We will be doing a special penguin craft activity during our Winter Celebration this year. We are in need of A LOT of empty water bottles... if you have empty water bottles at home, please send them in with your child! I would GREATLY appreciate it. Please keep the water bottle caps attached.
Warm gloves and socks charity drive
It is an awful truth that many people, even in our community, are victims of violence. Often times these people seek help from local organizations.
Family Haven, an organization in Forsyth County, offers safe shelter and needed items, for free to those in need. We can help them help others, by donating.
Cold winter weather is quickly approaching. Many people are in need of warm gloves and socks.
Make a difference in someone’s life.
Be kind and generous and bring in one or more pair of gloves and/or socks.
Together we can help.
Your donations can be dropped off at the front office or your child can give them to his/her homeroom teacher.
We will accept donations until December 16th.
Week of 12/14

It could be someone in your family; a sibling, grandparent, parent etc. It would be wonderful to have all parents/families take part of this program during the year. Please limit your visits to once a month so that other families can have an opportunity to be a reader. And lastly, please keep your visit a secret from your child! Thank you so much!
