Happy Friday!

Dear Kindergarten Families,

We had such a fun filled week! The highlight was going to Fernbank Museum! We started the trip out with an amazing "Wonders of the Arctic" IMAX movie and continued the day with exploring all the wonderful exhibits. Our favorites were the science sensory room, the nature playground and the Christmas trees around the world exhibit! Below are some pictures from the trip and some from today's taste test party.

I will not be in school on Monday, so feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns for that day. Ms. Irshadullah will be with the kids. I can't believe we only have one more week before winter break! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

STATE TAX CREDIT APPLICATION

Dear FSA Families,

I would like to remind you about the State Tax Credit Scholarship Program.

Please be informed that even if you make a joint application for $2,500, most likely half of it will be approved. Last year 60% of it was approved since this program is very popular and they have more applications than the State’s limit. So each year they proportion the amounts to give a chance to everyone who applied before the deadline. You don’t need to pay anything at this time. You can pay the approved amount around late March. They will inform you of the approved amount around late January. You don’t lose anything because you will receive a tax credit on your state income taxes and a charitable deduction on your federal incomes taxes for the amount of your contribution. This is a great opportunity for our families and also for our school.

Please see details HERE and make your application before the December 15 deadline. Thank you for all you do.

Empty Water Bottles Needed!

We will be doing a special penguin craft activity during our Winter Celebration this year. We are in need of A LOT of empty water bottles... if you have empty water bottles at home, please send them in with your child! I would GREATLY appreciate it. Please keep the water bottle caps attached.

Warm gloves and socks charity drive

It is an awful truth that many people, even in our community, are victims of violence. Often times these people seek help from local organizations.

Family Haven, an organization in Forsyth County, offers safe shelter and needed items, for free to those in need. We can help them help others, by donating.

Cold winter weather is quickly approaching. Many people are in need of warm gloves and socks.

Make a difference in someone’s life.

Be kind and generous and bring in one or more pair of gloves and/or socks.

Together we can help.

Your donations can be dropped off at the front office or your child can give them to his/her homeroom teacher.

We will accept donations until December 16th.

Change of Clothes

Please send in a change of clothes that can be kept in your child's cubby. For any reason clothes get soiled, I would like to have a backup outfit. Thank you!

Rest Time

In order to make rest time more comfortable for your child, they can bring in a comfy blanket to relax with. Students can also bring in a book from home if they would feel more comfortable with reading a book quietly during this time.

Lunch Thermos

If your child needs their lunch heated, I believe it would be best to buy a thermos to keep their lunch warm for lunch time. I have noticed a lot of children with lunches that need to be heated. Microwaves are limited and to ensure that your child has enough time to eat I feel as though a thermos would help this situation tremendously.

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is an at-home resource. It is a website that has links to our favorite and most used websites during our school day. I have sorted the links into categories for different skill practice, such as: Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. If you have any other sites that we can add to our Symbaloo webpage, please let me know!

Prize Box Donations Needed!

Students have the opportunity to earn "compliments" (tickets) for good behavior that can then be "cashed in" for a prize from the class prize box. I'm asking parents to donate any small prizes that would be appropriate for our box. Please no candy or food! Thank you so much!

Get Connected with the Homeroom App!

The Homeroom App is a great way for me to stay connected to you! It is a completely confidential app that will allow me to upload pictures and videos of your child throughout the school day. You can even comment and save these pictures right to your phone or computer! Here is the link to get started: https://gethomeroom.com/i/ZTXDDF
