Big picture

This short newsletter contains a few very important updates. Next week we will adjust our schedule to make up for last Monday's school holiday with next week's school holiday. It is important to remind our students that class meetings (on Zoom or Google Meet) are private and follow all our acceptable user agreement--full details below.

There is a virtual visit with me this Friday, which follows our District Board meeting, so feel free to bring questions. Lastly, an update on our picture days the end of this month. If you previously purchased a package you will just need to sign up for an appointment time still. On the package selection page scroll to the very bottom and select the ID card choice only.

IMPORTANT information for your student--filming or photographing and posting online classes

Yesterday a student in one of our classes took a screenshot of the class meeting and posted it on the internet. This is a violation of the Acceptable User Agreement for electronic usage in MDUSD schools. Additionally it breaks CA Education Code 51512 (see below).

Please speak with your child and let them know that if something like this occurs they should report it to their parent/guardian, and school personnel (teachers, counselor, admin, or staff) so we address it. It is admirable that students look out for one another and alert staff. It is difficult to engage online but we do not want students worried about their interactions.

It is important this is a learning opportunity but also know that we will follow-up with consequences which may include removal of all electronic access.

ED CODE 51512 (ENACTED BY STATS. 1976, CH. 1010.)
The Legislature finds that the use by any person, including a pupil, of any electronic listening or recording device in any classroom of the elementary and secondary schools without the prior consent of the teacher and the principal of the school given to promote an educational purpose disrupts and impairs the teaching process and discipline in the elementary and secondary schools, and such use is prohibited. Any person, other than a pupil, who willfully violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

Any pupil violating this section shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.

This section shall not be construed as affecting the powers, rights, and liabilities arising from the use of electronic listening or recording devices as provided for by any other provision of law.

Appointments are required. If you made one in December you will need to make a NEW appointment. IF you previously purchased a package scroll to the appointment sign up page to the bottom and select "ID Card and Yearbook Photo Only NO CHARGE"

ALL students must have a current ID when they return to campus. These pictures are for the school ID cards and the Yearbook photos.

Available appointment times are:

  • Wednesday, January 27, 3pm-6pm (Multiuse Room)
  • Thursday, January 28, 3pm-6pm (Multiuse Room)

We will have safety measures including social distancing.

  • All persons will need face coverings.

  • Students will remove face covering while pictures are taken.

Signs will clearly mark the pathway, which will include distancing and directions.

Or go to the photographer site for time and payment for packages. When you purchase a packet please bring a copy of the confirmation or show it electronically.

You do not need to purchase a package to get the ID card. When signing up for the appointment scroll to the bottom to select ID card and Yearbook photo.
