Principal's Pen
I hope you enjoyed your long Labor Day weekend! This week we will have our first Parent Association meeting. It will be held in the BBCS music room on the 2nd floor. Our meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. We'd love to see you there. The purpose of the PA is to provide enrichment and extracurricular activities for our students that support the mission of our school. Please join us! We'd love to see you there!
Each month at BBCS we focus on a different virtue at school. Throughout that month we emphasize to the students what that virtue looks like in action. For the month of September our virtue will be orderliness. This means keeping oneself physically clean and keeping one's belongings in order. At school this looks like keeping desks and lockers neat and putting belonging in their assigned spots. Please try working on this virtue at home as well. At home this might look like hanging up a jacket in the closet, putting bookbags in their assigned spot instead of just dropping them on the floor, and making a bed in the morning before school. In the Monday Mailer you will find a sheet about orderliness for your family. You can hang that on your fridge as a reminder to practice this virtue at home.
Each week we present an award called Caught Being a Christian to one of the many students in the school who were caught practicing virtue. This award is given after the 8:00 a.m. Mass each Friday. Teachers and staff members are watching students throughout the week. When they see virtue in practice they give the student a certificate on SchoolSpeak and the student's name is placed in the drawing for Caught Being a Christian. Our first Caught Being a Christian Award this year is going to Rylee Poquette. On the first day of school Rylee made friends with a new student in her class and made her feel welcome. She was practicing the virtues of affability and kindness. Great job, Rylee!
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the pictures below!
God bless,

Third and Fourth Grade Math
This year you may notice that the math textbooks and workbooks look a little different. We have invested in the latest Singapore curriculum, Dimensions Math. Singapore math is an approach that instills a deep understanding of mathematical thinking in our students. It is based on research of math mastery in Singapore, which consistently ranks at the top of international math testing.

Scrip
Scrip gift cards can be purchased in the office. You can stop by the school or click on the link below to place an order. If you have never used scrip, an easy way to start is to purchase gift cards for the gas station you use and the grocery store at which you shop. Just using scrip for those two purchases is often enough to reach your goal.
Families in preschool and pre-kindergarten do not have a scrip commitment, however, we still encourage you to use scrip. Without the $200 commitment, you begin earning money toward tuition from the start. Call the office with any questions.
