**Weekly Update** 03/19/21 Vol. 30
*STOP ASIAN HATE* *STOP ASIAN HATE* STOP ASIAN HATE*
Hola Jaguar Families!
As Jaguars, we are agents of social change, and today I want to focus our attention not on the senseless acts of hate that occurred, but rather on the love and appreciation that we have for our Asian American community here in San Jose.
To begin with, we are truly blessed to have such a rich and diverse community in the Bay Area. Asian Americans display a beautiful representation of this diversity. I want the Roberto Cruz Leadership Academy to embrace the values and culture of Asian Americans as they would their very own. Together we stand stronger and unified in a common purpose, which is to eradicate systemic racism that our country has been plagued with. I will reemphasize that there is no room or tolerance for hate towards Asian Americans in our school nor our community. Social change begins with us. Today. Now.
Changing direction, this week I wanted to spotlight our Math teacher Ms. Obhi. She has been an excellent addition to our team, onboarding this year. Oftentimes, you will find that Ms. Obhi explains multi-step equations using a variety of colors to model her thinking aloud. She has a vast knowledge of the required CA math standards and has an even more impressive relationship with her students. She often goes above and beyond to ensure that her students have a sound conceptual understanding of the Math material. We are proud that she has joined our team and we look forward to having her back on campus to witness the exemplary teaching in person! Congratulations, Ms. Obhi and thank you for your leadership!
Jaguars Parents- please call the front office or email me regarding the progress of your student. I would be happy to discuss with you their academic performance or anything else that you may have questions about. Again, my job as a principal is to advocate for our students and empower families through education. Please use me as a resource! Have a safe weekend!
