7th Grade Programming
November 6th, 7th, and 8th
Program Information
Good morning parents of 7th grade students,
We are excited to announce that on November 6th, 7th and 8th during Health classes, our 7th graders will be participating in programming aimed at increasing self-esteem and positive decision-making, while encouraging kindness and healthy relationships. Girls Unlimited, a program created by The Bullying Prevention Resource Center (a branch of The Peace Center) will facilitate discussion and activities with our girls. Our PE staff, along with Mr. Long will be providing similarly focused programming for the boys during this time. Their focus will be on passion, purpose, resiliency, and making smart decision.
We are committed to creating safety in our schools: physically, emotionally, socially, and morally so students will excel academically. These programs promote an environment of trust, cooperation and respect. Toward this end, they foster emotional and social intelligence. The natural outcome of this is an increase in school attachment and academic performance.
These programs will address the pressures faced by adolescents in these turbulent times. Topics such as anger management, respect for self and others, empathy, conflict resolution, responsible behavior on social media, self-harm, and how to deal with the messages the media sends us about how we are supposed to look and behave will be covered.
It is our hope that by building social and emotional intelligence skills in middle school, our young men and women will move through these challenging years and into the world with skills to manage themselves and their relationships in authentic and positive ways.
