AFUHSD Pandemic Update #3
A Note from Superintendent Dr. Runyan
What a summer it has been. We hope everyone is safe and healthy. We have the full staff gearing up for our virtual opening. In just a few weeks students will be receiving their class schedules. Enclosed in this newsletter you will find a sample bell schedule along with important information to help guide you on this return to fall instruction.
Also, a special note to our incoming freshman who will be picking up their chromebooks and gaining their school orientations. I know in times like these it is normal to feel anxiety and you likely have many questions as we get closer to the school year. Along with our third summer newsletter be sure to watch for continued communication from your schools. While the delivery of classes will feel different virtually you will still be attending classes with direct instruction and support. We look forward to getting the year underway and we continue to monitor conditions that will allow for a future return to campus at some point when safe to do so.

Now and the Future
Again, our goal is to move to the hybrid learning environment as soon as possible. As you know, this pandemic is fluid and information changes daily. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 data on a daily/weekly basis, take guidance from the CDC, state health agencies, and the Governor's office as gating criteria for return to in-person learning. We are committed to notifying families two weeks prior to our transition to in-person learning.
A high possibility exists that the learning environments will transition intermittently from remote learning to hybrid learning and back to remote learning. Our plan allows for this transition to happen with minimal disruption to learning.

Communicating with Your School
If your needs cannot be met through these communication methods and you must visit the campus, you are required to make an appointment prior. Schools will be available for appointments from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-3:30p.m.
Visitors will have to complete a health screening, wear a mask, and practice physical distancing guidelines.
Clarification on Athletic Participation
We continue to wait for additional guidance from the AIA, and families will be updated as the information comes in.
