Sussex Avenue News That You Can Use
Principal's Corner
To celebrate Black History Month, students in all grades were afforded the opportunity to participate in the Black History Month project. Students were to select a famous/interesting/trailblazing Black American who has had a positive impact on our society. Students presented their projects to staff, students, families, and judges. I was in awe of what I witnessed. Students spoke clearly, eloquently, and with passion on their subjects and their creativity in delivering their information was stellar.
Thank you to Ms. Folmar for her development and organization of this spectacular event and the community members that volunteered their time to serve as judges. I did not envy you in that task!
We concluded our week with a Sussex Avenue School Spirit Assembly! Students celebrated their efforts in raising over $2,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Societies- Pennies for Patients. Thank you to Mrs. Gutierrez for leading this important fundraiser. We surpassed last years total of approximately $1,700. Finally, we celebrated 49 students who earned SNAP awards this month. Students are certainly spreading kindness! Keep up the amazing work!!
