Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Families,
Don’t forget - there’s no school tomorrow for the Presidents’ Day holiday. Everyone will be back in class on Tuesday, February 21.
The Loveland Intermediate School Dodgeball tournament happened last week. The tournament has been going on for years, and this year it raised money for the NEST Community Learning Center. Students create teams and ask a staff member to join them for a tournament that covers several days. I was on the “Unripe Bananas” team, and we managed to make it to the second round. More importantly, I managed to make it through the games without an injury after I tore up my knee playing dodgeball last year. Getting older stinks! Congrats to the 6th grade “Beach Ballers” team for winning the tournament!
Last Friday I got a chance to see the results of a lot of hard work by our Loveland High School students. They have been raising money as part of “3’s for LIFE,” a partnership between Tigers Inc, Spirit Club, and LHS Athletics. Every 3-point shot during boys and girls high school basketball games turned into 12 canned goods for LIFE Food Pantry, thanks to donations from Jarvis Global Investments. Additional donations from the community turned into more than 3000 canned goods to help feel local families in need, and support LIFE Food Pantry.
I’m impressed by all the ways our students demonstrate our Core Values of Care, Respect, and Responsibility by giving back to our amazing Loveland community.
We have a Board of Education meeting coming up on Tuesday evening. I’ll be presenting on the state fiscal distress process that the district will be entering later this year without additional funding. We will be launching a levy information page on our website in the next few days so Loveland families and community members can receive information directly from the district about the May 2 operating levy request. Our finances are an open book, and they show that we have been fiscally responsible and stretched our existing funding as far as possible.
If you have questions or want more information, you can reach me at: broadwmi@lovelandschools.org.
