The Railroader Express
BES Family Newsletter - March 3, 2023
Dear BES Families,
From Day 1 when the trees were taken down, our students have been facinated watching the construction of the new BES! They especially love the glass stairway. Every recess brings new things to see!
Please take a few minutes to check out all of the items in this week's Railroader Express Newsletter.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Food and Drink Reminder
Water Bottles
Please remind your students that only water may be in water bottles.
Please do not send them filled with any other drink.
Food Items
Students should only bring lunches and snacks.
Both of these can only be eaten during appropriate times and in appropriate places.
Eating / Drinking Outside Food Upon Arrival to School
If your child arrives to school in the morning with a food item or drink (that is not part of their packed lunch or snack), they will be asked to go to the cafeteria to finish this before going to class.
Students may not bring breakfast or drinks (other than water) to consume during class.
This also applies to students coming to school mid-day. If your child needs to finish their lunch upon arrival, they will be allowed to do so in the cafeteria before going to class.
Thank you!
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is full of really nice things.
Unfortunately, they are not labelled!
Please ask your students to swing by the Lost and Found and make sure the items there are not theirs.
All unclaimed items will be donated before Spring Break.
Thanks!

REQUIRED TRAINING For Volunteers and Chaperones
Volunteer and Chaperone Training (REQUIRED Yearly)
Before anyone is permitted to volunteer in the school, serve as a chaperone or attend an event during school hours, they must complete the Volunteer Training and Registration. This is a county requirement and must be done by individuals each year.
Once the training and registration form is completed, the process for approval takes several days and is done at the county level.
Please consider doing the training now to avoid last minute issues. It will cover you for the rest of this school year.
Please share this information with any/all adults that may be involved at the school. We cannot make exceptions to this and we will turn individuals away who have not completed this and received approval from FCPS. This is mandatory for student and staff safety.
