TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS CHRONICLE
VOL. 4 NO. 35
PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
WEEK ENDING IN 05/06/2022
Dear OSES Families,
This week was full of celebrations and testing. Teachers and staff were showered with appreciation and students were motivated and celebrated as they finished their Florida State Assessments.
Thank you to our PVO and all the parents who volunteered their time and items to make Teacher Appreciation week possible. Teachers have been working very hard this year to move students forward academically and cultivate a culture of respect and excellence.
The last round of state assessments will be the Grade 5 science test on Thursday and Friday. Please make sure your student takes the necessary steps to be prepared (i.e. arriving on time, good rest, and healthy eating). Results for most FSA tests will not be available until mid-summer.
OSES wants to wish a Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday to all moms, grandmas, aunts, and all the women responsible for mentoring and working hard to make sure our students grow. Mother’s Day may be celebrated differently for families, however the celebration of that special person in our life remains the same.
Appreciatively,
Mr. Singleton

In social studies this week students will learn about primary sources. Students will observe a primary source from over 200 years ago! In science students will continue to compare plant and animal characteristics in real life with plant and animal characteristics as portrayed in books, movies, and other media.
Please remember to label ALL student belongings: JACKETS, water bottles, lunchboxes etc. Thank you!

Discussing topics with actual scientists is always an enjoyable learning experience. Students in Smyth’s class will connect with a scientist on the 12th about animal adaptations.
Students in Mr. Nemcik’s class participated in a Lego STEM challenge. The students were tasked with constructing a Lego boat capable of holding weight. Teams competed against each other to find out which boat could hold the most weight. After completing the challenge, students wrote a reflection about the success of their design, what they learned about engineering, and the challenges of working with others.
FIFTH
SIXTH
Mrs. Gajus’ math classes have worked hard all year and have completed their math FSA testing for the year! Throughout the rest of the school year, students will be working on going over topics they will need to be ready for their math classes next year. They will work through math lessons, bring lesson papers home, and will have various class practice activities to complete. I hope your family has a great summer and if you are traveling at all, be safe!
