From the Principal's Desk...
Your word is truth
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are preparing for all of the final events and celebrations of this school year. There have certainly been times this year when I wondered if we would be able to have any of these wonderful events. We have come through a great deal together, and I believe that we have learned how much we need each other.
This week and next week classes are having their individual celebrations. Thank you to all of the volunteers who will be helping with these. On Friday, we will have our annual Field Day. This fun day will happen much like it has in the past. I’m sure that all of our students are looking forward to it.
Next week on Wednesday, May 26, we will have our Candle Ceremony. This celebration will be slightly modified, but we will be able to have it nonetheless. It is a critically important opportunity for our 8th grade students to pass on the role of leadership to our current 7th grade students.
On Thursday, May 27, in the evening, we will celebrate Mass and recognize our 8th grade students as they graduate. We have been able to add in much of the opportunities from our past graduation. We are all very excited to recognize our wonderful 8th grade class and to wish them well as they matriculate to high school.
I believe that it is no coincidence that today’s Gospel (JN 17:11-19) reminds us of what our graduates and all of us have been called to. “Your word is truth.
As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”
Our Mission is for all of us to become “Heralds of God’s love in the world.” May we experience in all of these end of the year events, especially our graduation, the Lord’s call to witness to the truth and to be people of love.
Peace,
Dan Minelli

Last Turn Day In for Shopping Cent$
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 20 will be the last turn in day of the school year to order gift cards from Shopping Cent$. Keep in mind that gift cards make great gifts for Father's Day, graduation, and summer birthdays.
Gift cards can still be purchased during the summer before or after all weekend masses at St. John the Baptist Church.
Thank you for support of the Shopping Cent$ program throughout the year. Together we can all help keep tuition costs down simply by paying for our everyday purchases with gift cards!
save the date: 2021 School Spectacular
We know there is a lot of excitement in the air right now with Field Day, Graduation and the end of the school year coming up over the next 10 days, but please mark your calendars for the 3rd St John School Spectacular! Over The Rainbow will take place on Saturday, November 13 and our hope is we will be back to full capacity.
Your support of the class basket raffles last year brought in nearly $7500 and we hope your help this year will make that number go even higher. This was a popular addition not only for those who purchased raffle tickets but the kids really loved being a part of this and getting their free chance to win a basket. It was amazing to see how many used that chance to win the basket of pampering for their mom!
The Spectacular has netted over $142,000 in it’s first two years and has kept your tuition increases lower than past years as well as keeping the registration fee stable. In addition, it covered the tablet costs for our 4th to 8th graders, covered the costs of additional needs due to Covid requirements and provided our teachers and staff with a 1% raise.
Thanks to all of you for your support of this event. It could not happen without our dedicated families and volunteers. If you are interested in helping with the planning committee this year, please reach out to Mary Beth Salyers at mbsalyers13@gmail.com.
Enjoy your summer!

Athletic Boosters
End of Year Family Night
As the school year and spring sports come to a close, the athletic boosters would like to take a moment to thank our community for their dedication and commitment to providing a full season of youth athletics. It has been a challenging year to say the least but most importantly the kids were able to get back to doing the things they love. We are thankful for the passion of all of our parents and volunteers to make this season a success!!!
To celebrate the closing of this school year, the athletic boosters has planned a small celebration for our final Family Night on Friday May 28th. It is fitting that this is the final day of school and what better way to celebrate. We will have a food truck serving food starting at 5:30 pm, a DJ playing music later in the evening, and for the first time we are excited to announce a fireworks show starting around 9:30 pm. We are confident this is something the kids will be excited about and that they will remember for years to come. We hope that you are able to join us in celebrating the closing of the 20-21 school year.

St. John's Athletics is pleased to offer golf to both boys and girls in 5th-8th grade for the upcoming 2021 fall season. Please have scores submitted no later than June 27th. Final teams and number of matches played will be determined by the number of golfers that sign up. Matches usually start mid July and run through Sept with an end of the year tournament for the top teams and individuals.
