Weekly Classroom Library Visits
It is my goal to be present in the library during classroom visits. Therefore, all collaborations will exist around library visits. Each week until October, I will briefly have a topic of discussion before sending students off to select books. We will gather by the green screen.
Library visits are a PERFECT time to engage in informal conversations about reading lives and books with students. It is a PERFECT time to build relationships and for students to lead and build relationships with other readers.
I am creating a "Library Calendar in Outlook". I will insert all classroom library checkout times. If you ever want to schedule to use the library space for a showcase, an extra library time, or even just to use as another workspace for students, you do not need to arrange through me. You have the capability to "reserve" the library space yourself. On Friday, you will receive an email stating that a "BSE Library Calendar" will be accessible to you.
One final random thought....Please return library books in the morning.
Preschool Library Visits
It is a great way to bring our preschool and elementary communities together.
Preschool teachers, I have a few new things up my sleeve for as the year goes on. Stay tuned!
BSE Friday Read Alouds in Collaboratory
This year, they will be held in the collaboratory at two standard times.
- 10:30-11:00
- 2:30-3:00
If your class beats me to the collaboratory, please push the tables down the preschool hall just past the resource room and down the fourth grade hall just past Miss Blair's room. This will allow more seating and clear walkthrough.
VOLUNTEERS to READ!!!!! Thank you to all who have ever volunteered to read in the past. Please just shoot me an email when you want to read or add your name to the BSE Library Calendar on the date & time you want to read. The students love to hear other teachers and staff read.
Hello Canvas! Goodbye OLD Symbaloo and Hello NEW Symbaloo!
As we transition to Canvas as a school, and as students are accessing their Canvas pages, they will have access to the Symbaloo there along with many other resources.
This is my way of streamlining and making everything a ONE STOP SHOP for all students, teachers, and parents.
Just and FYI...As each child signs into Canvas they should see their home classroom along with Media Center.
iPads
Also, Kyle still has iPad charging carts available for K-2 teachers to use to charge iPads left at school. Contact him if you are interested in a charging cart.
Collaboratory (Makerspace)
- consumable
- non-consumable
- work space
The consumable materials are organized outside of the art room and are accessible to all students with a purpose for creation and production. During September, when your class visits the library for checkout, we will talk about the makerspace and its purpose as learners.
The nonconsumable materials are located under the tv on the back side of the library. These items can be taken back to classrooms for use and promptly returned, or teachers can bring their students to the collaboratory to work. Thank you to the teacher(s) already using some of these items! What a way to get students engaged from the start.
The beauty of the tables in the collaboratory is that they can be wheeled to wherever they are needed. Bring your class down to create and work or take tables to your room or the hall to spread students out as they engage in purposeful creation and learning.
BSE Broadcasts
