The Pirate Patch
Weekly News from Pickett's Mill
Welcome to the Pirate Patch
THE SMALL FRY ARE HERE!
On Thursday, we received 3,200 rainbow trout eggs! The eggs are in the eyed egg stage and will begin to hatch into sac fry within the next week. Our 3rd grade students conducted a sample count using displacement to estimate the number of eggs we received. Students were fully immersed in this STEM activity with Tom Schmeltzer, "Big Fry", and our STEM lab teacher, Ms. Misinco.
Our Small Fry Labitat was made possible by parent donations to our PTA. Please support our current PTA no-sell fundraiser, Surrender the Booty, so we can continue to offer these exciting opportunities for all Pickett's Mill students.
Technology Integration
These third grade students were using iPads and Educreations to interpret data and create graphs.
Ms. Spencer's Students
Another group of third grade students worked on identifying and classifying types of nouns.
Friendly Letters
Ms. Folsom's students learned about the format for writing a friendly letter. They wrote letters to their parents about how their school year is going.
