Clemens Counselor Connection

Welcome to School Year 2021-2022!

Welcome to the new school year!

Hello Buff Students and Families!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! We hope that you were able to rest and relax as we get ready to start a new school year. We have put together some helpful information and resources that you may want to keep handy.

Please take note of the link on the Counselor website for schedule changes requests. All requests must be sent through the Google form as we are not accepting any through email. Additionally, we will not be accepting requests for teacher changes or lunch period changes. The deadline to submit a request is August 25.

Counselors are available to speak with students and parents about concerns they have. We encourage students and parents to submit an appointment request through our website. This ensures that counselors have time set aside to meet with students and/or parents.

We are excited about this school year and look forward to working with you all! Keep an eye on our social media accounts for important dates and info throughout the year.

Best wishes for a great year!

Prep Days were a HIT!

This is the first year in a long time that we have been able to host Prep Days due to the construction that finished in the summer of 2020. Thank you to all of our students and families who were able to attend! We hope this process will help you start your new school year on a strong foot and a positive note.

If you missed it, don't fret. We will get all of our students all that they need within the first weeks of school. We will publish announcements in classes and more.

We are off to a great start! 2021-2022 is going to be GREAT!

First Day of School

Thursday, Aug. 12th, 8:30am-4pm

1001 Elbel Road

Schertz, TX

School starts on Thursday, August 12! Make sure your student arrives on time, in dress code, and ready to start their school year on the right foot. We welcome all of our students back to their campus! Our school days begins at 8:40am and ends at 4:00pm. The first bell rings at 8:30 to invite students to their first period classes. We will have first period rosters posted throughout the campus to help students navigate to their class where they will get their class schedule.

Quick Links to Help You!

Parent Portal- We have moved away from the TX Connect Parent Portal and have joined arms with Ascender. Login information is the same as your TX Connect Parent Portal if you were in our district last year. If not, then you will set up your account after registration. If you're new to our school, we encourage parents to have a Parent Portal to help students be successful and stay abreast of your student's current grades, attendance, and more. This is key in being a partner in education with our amazing staff.

My School Bucks- This is the system where you pay for any school related fees and purchases. This includes adding funds to your student's lunch account.

Buying a yearbook? Go to My School Bucks! Want a new class t-shirt? Go to My School Bucks. Create an account using your own information, link your students, and voila! You're set for years to come!

Free and Reduced Lunch Application- This is important for MANY reasons! First, with all the changes we have experienced in our economy and economic situations, we advise all families to apply for free/reduced lunch. This is a simple, online form that is available in English and Spanish to determine if your student can get lunch for free or for a reduced rate. This can save families a lot of money over the course of the school year. You can apply any time, but you do need to reapply every school year even if you were qualified the previous year. Additionally, your student can be eligible for fee waivers for college entrance exams, college applications, scholarships, and additional government funds for their education after high school. If you have many children in the family, you only need to apply one time and add all children to the same application. Our Child Nutrition office can answer questions for you and assist you further if needed. The application opens for this school year in August.

School Website- Much of the information we share throughout the school year can be found on our campus website. We send a lot of the same information via email through a system called Blackboard. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder for information from us as it is often filtered out of your inbox.

Social Media accounts- Our campus manages a Twitter account as well as Facebook. Several of our organizations and departments also have their own accounts. Our Counseling Team manages a Twitter feed and share mental health information and more throughout the year. We share a lot of information and updates frequently and encourage you to follow us!

Schedule Changes

Remember! Schedule changes are NOT guaranteed. We must balance class sizes and consider space and availability in the courses. Also, you must remain in your AP/Honors courses for the first six weeks of the school year. Then, if you meet requirements for the drop, we can process a schedule change to on-level courses at that time. Stay tuned to our Counselor site for the form.

Course Catalog and Course Sheet can be found here: https://www.scuc.txed.net/Page/17328

Senior Meetings

Seniors!! Counselors will start meeting with you to conduct your post-secondary planning meeting in early September. We will see students as quickly as we can and there is no need to submit a request or ask for passes from your teachers. Counselors will send a pass to you in your class as soon as we are ready for you. Be sure you report to our office when the pass is sent so we can ensure we see everyone in a timely fashion. Come prepared with your questions, plans, and more so start making your lists now. We look forward to meeting with each of you and supporting you in your future endeavors.

Mental Health Matters!

Each month we publish our Mental Health Moment focusing on different mental health issues and resources that can assist you and your family. Our goal is to ensure this is a conversation we have with each student on our campus through this method. Our Mental Health Moment can be accessed digitally at the following link: https://www.scuc.txed.net/Page/17335

You can find current and past issues of the publication at the same link. We look forward to sharing more resources and information with you throughout the year.
