Cheetah Chat
Cherrelyn Elementary School
March 8, 2019
Dear Cherrelyn Family,
As our community looks forward to opening a new building, we have a wonderful opportunity to build on our Cheetah traditions and explore new possibilities. One area that is of particular importance to our school community is the focus on STEM education: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
I know that there has been some conversation in the community with regard to STEM programming next year. Please be assured that I am committed to continuing STEM programming during the school day to all students. I firmly believe it is important for students to engage in Problem Based Learning (PBL) as aligned to the state content standards and the ISTE standards (International Society for Technology in Education). The use of the engineering design process will also continue to be a focus.
We constantly seek new ways to integrate STEM in our curriculum and programming at Cherrelyn. Some of the STEM programming we are exploring for after school clubs, at no charge, may include:
Robotics Club
Coding Club
Lego Club
We will continue to offer our regular after school clubs such as Girls on the Run, Sticky Fingers, tutoring, and basketball. We are dedicated to providing students quality activities as part of their learning experience at Cherrelyn.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email rebecca_orsund@engschools.net or phone 303-806-2441.
It’s a great day to be a Cheetah!
Warm Regards,
Rebecca Orsund, Principal
