Nurse News
Greetings from your school nurse.
It is the season, and I would like to remind you that the flu shot is widely available at most pharmacies, and you don’t require an appointment. Everyone aged 6months or older can get vaccinated against the flu. It is especially important for pregnant women, young children, and those with chronic health conditions such as asthma.
The most important step in preventing the flu is to get the flu shot each year. Reducing the chances of getting sick include keeping your ill student home till they are no longer symptomatic to prevent the spread to others. Reminding and teaching your children the proper way of covering their coughs and sneezes. And most importantly: Proper and frequent hand washing
To find more information about the Flu vaccine go to this CDC webpage about the flu vaccine.
Angel Tree Program
Cottonwood Creek Elementary participates every year in the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree” gift program. This program has helped provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of children in our community.
This year we will have tags to pick up at the front office the week before Thanksgiving for those families that like to hit the Thanksgiving sales. Our tree will officially be put up the day after our break and tags will be available to pick off the tree at that time. I know many of you have made this a tradition in your families and our community is truly grateful for your generosity in years past.
For those families who would like to be recipients of this program please sign your child(ren) up at saangeltree.org. November 5th- December 13th.
Note: CWE does not handle the application process nor are we able to answer any questions. Information on this program is all located on their website.
Wishing you good health and wellness as we roll into the holiday season,
Your school nurse, S. Chapelle RN
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing! If you've been on the lookout for missing jackets/hats/gloves/etc. at home and just can't seem to find them...chances are they're here in our lost and found. Feel free to stop by and take a look. We'd love to see these items make it back home.
