Principal Update
Welcome Back Edition 2017
Welcome Back BSE Staff!
I read this early today, from Nelsoney and Welcome the #KidsDeserveIt authors. I think it sums up what we need to focus on this first days back in 2017.
Chapter 8: Leave it in the Car - A message about our responsibility as the adults and orchestrators of instruction.
Kids deserve an excited adult. They need someone who's ready to explore and laugh with them all day - someone who is looking for those magic moments, full of high fives coming down the line with energy radiating all around. Our kids have far more issues to deal with at home than many of us realize. School is their safety net, their safe place, their one true home. They want and NEED us to come to school every day, ready to surround them with love, encouragement, and hope.
Make a true commitment to your students - Leave your problems in your car, take deep breaths, and focus on the positive every day for every child!
I BELIEVE in the BSE organization and will work as efficiently, as humanly possible, to support you fully. Thanks for making the 2nd semester a wonderful one for all of those at BSE.

You will need the code as printed on the periodical edition of Scholastic magazines. Students will need to download Scholastic magazines app. For assistance, please see Mrs. Patrick or a team member who has been using Scholastic digital resources.

Diving into Databases with Student Research
Through our generous partner, the Hamilton East Public Library, we have access to a fabulous collection of research databases for classroom use.
These databases are perfect for nonfiction writing and project based learning units.
Mrs. Patrick will give a brief overview the databases available and explain how students might use each one.

Launch: Using Design Thinking to Boost Creativity and Bring Out the Maker in Every Student
I don't participate online (though you can for PGPs!), but I make it a point to read each title. Let me know if you end up reading too so we can discuss!
