Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Every morning, announcements begin with the Song of the Week chosen by our Music Teacher, Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson. Each day, different facts about the singer are shared before beginning the pledges. Listen to the song with your child and ask him/her what they remember about the singer. If they don't remember, give them the task to remember one fact they hear the following day. Having daily conversations with your child about their school day can help nurture trust and social-emotional skills.
From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
This week, we celebrated A & AB Honor Roll for the 1st Six Weeks, we gave out hundreds of Chromebooks to go home and we hosted our Pumpkin Patch Festival!
The picture below shows our students who reached A & AB Honor Roll during the 1st Six Weeks. We celebrated with pizza, chips and water in the cafeteria. They had a chance to mingle and enjoy the time together. They were congratulated for their dedication to their studies and encouraged to continue their hard work! Parents, a great way to support your child in attaining A & AB Honor Roll is to ensure they do their M-Th Homework, facilitate that they complete two iReady lessons per week at home, and stay in close communication with their teacher for their current academic standing.
We know how important it is to differentiate instruction and support by student needs. To strengthen the supports that our students receive, we are partnering with our RHE parents by facilitating what you can do at home. Every student is eligible to take a Chromebook home. This is with the purpose that they access the educational platforms we offer. If students do a minimum of 2 iReady lessons per week at home, we know that whether they need the added challenge or they need extra support, their learning will be accelerated.
The day we had all been waiting for, our Pumpkin Patch Festival, is now behind us for this school year. We welcomed over 1,000 guests and had highly enjoyed seeing our students with their families have a good time. A big thank you to our parents for their donations and presence, our community partners for their donations, our central office for being present, our custodial, maintenance and security department for being an integral part of the special day, and last but not least, our campus staff for the planning and preparation to make this event possible! We look forward to Pumpkin Patch Festival 2024!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! We'll see you back on Monday, bright and early at school before 8:00am.
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas
