Hello Hilltopper Families!
I am so excited for our students to take part in Kindness Week festivities next week. Mrs. Barnett kicked off the festivities with grade level assemblies in the cafeteria today. There are planned themes for each day with suggestions for dressing up. Students are encouraged to bring in donations all week for an organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace that builds beds for kids who need them in our community. It costs $250 to provide a fully furnished bed with new mattresses, pillows and bedding. As an extra incentive, I am getting in on the fun with a SCHOOLWIDE KINDNESS CHALLENGE!
If we raise $500- Top student per grade gets to pie Mrs. Makee in the face!
If we raise $1000- Top student per class gets to pie Mrs. Makee in the face!
If we raise OVER $1000- Top 2 students per class gets to pie Mrs. Makee in the face!
Throughout the week, our students will engage in various activities designed to promote kindness. There is also a coloring contest where winning students get to take home one of the adorable stuffies I am holding! I encourage you to join in Kindness Week by discussing the importance of kindness at home and encouraging simple acts of goodwill. TOGETHER we can create an atmosphere where kindness becomes a way of life!
Get ready to spread kindness like confetti!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee

๐พ STAFF PET SPOTLIGHT! ๐พ
Introducing our latest newsletter feature โ "Park Pets!" Each week, we will spotlight a different staff member and their beloved furry, feathery, or scaly pet, sharing heartwarming stories, fun facts and adorable photos. It's a wonderful way to get to know our team on a more personal level and celebrate the joy that pets bring to our lives. Who can resist the charm of a wagging tail or a purring friend? We hope you enjoy meeting the beloved pets of our Park staff!
Second graders in Mrs. Kreuzโs class explored flags from around the world to deepen their understanding of fractions. By examining the vibrant colors on each flag, students were able to use their analytical skills to compare fractions. Mrs. Kreuz even added movement by having students stand, sit or pretend to sleep depending on if they thought the colors on the flag were greater than, less than or equal to each other. This hands-on approach not only enhanced their fraction skills but also helped foster cultural awareness.

IMPORTANT- BLIZZARD BAGS
Since we have reached our 5th calamity day, we want to inform you about our Blizzard Bag Plan for Park Elementary which went home on February 9th. We are providing Blizzard Bags to your child in the event of inclement weather resulting in a school closure. This will enable your child to continue their learning at home. These bags will contain TWO DAYS WORTH of assignments and activities which align with their current curriculum. Your child's teacher will provide instructions and we encourage you to engage with your child in completing these assignments to ensure continuity in their education. As for the specials classes, complete ONLY the activity for the special the child has on that calamity day. You will have 10 school days to complete each day's Blizzard Bag assignments. For example, if we have a snow day on March 1, the bag would be due on March 15th. We appreciate your support in making learning a collaborative effort, even on snow days. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
