Derek Martin Redeeming Culture Through The Arts

Why should churches invest in the arts?

The church has had a challenging relationship with the arts since the Renaissance. Arts are the mouthpiece of our souls. If we want to cultivate cultural revival - arts, media, and entertainment are key to reaching the world for the cause of Christ.

Who is Derek Grant Martin?

Derek has spent the last 19+ years as a professional actor, director, dancer, choreographer and public speaker and is currently chair of the Creative Arts Department at William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA. Before coming to Jessup, Derek was the coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts in Theater,a faculty member with the graduate program in acting, and a director in the main stage season at Regent University. Derek also serves as Artistic Director of the Americana Theatre Company - a professional summer stock in Plymouth, Massachusetts, a role he has held for the last 5 years. He is passionate about excellence in artistry, the redemption of culture through arts, media, and entertainment, and the ways in which the church can become the leading culture shaper and maker in the world once again.
