Upcoming Author Visit

The hard copy of this order form should have already gone home or be going home very very soon. If it gets misplaced clicking on that link will allow you to print out another copy!

If you wish to order through the school please pay attention to the dates as orders have to be made pretty early. And note the two different possible sources for one of the books ... Creepy Pair of Underwear is available from the bookfair (or at least the first 30 people to order can get it from the bookfair) and then all the rest of the books are from Barnes and Noble.

You can order books from other sources as well and send them in a day or two before the visit to have them signed. As noted on the form, still send in a form with the desired inscriptions clearly printed.

The PAWS for Books Bookfair

is coming the third week of February.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! That link is currently active right here. They promised they have fixed the issue where trying to open the link on a mobile phone would often be problematic. If it ever pops up again just send Ms. O a message with the day and time you can come and she'll enter you manually. We'll set up on Fri. the 16th (that is an early out day for the students so be aware of that ... if anyone can come we'll try to start around 11!) and then the fair will run Monday the 19th through Thursday the 22 from 8:20-3:30 and then on Friday from 8:20 to 12. We'll close at 12 that day to be ready for a "club" afternoon for grades 3-5 at 1:30.

Shopping the bookfair online will be available Feb 11-24. Delivery of the book for the author visit will NOT come in time in that case. Please send a check ahead of time if you would like to be one of the 30 that get Creepy Pair of Underwear that way.

Flat Gingys

Second Grade, if you took your Flat Gingy on an adventure (or imagined one!) over the break we'd love to hear about it! Please send it in to your teacher or Ms. O as soon as possible.

Third Grade Rapid Changes to the Earth's Surface

Or in other words ... NATURAL DISASTERS! In real life we've seen ... quite a few over the past year. Third grade has been researching why and when they occur and how we can best prepare and be safe. Look for some final projects soon!

Holiday Reads

The Six Flags Six Hour Reading and Schlitterbahn Waves of Reading finish at the end of the month.

Six Flags requires six hours of reading, Schlitterbahn requires ten. That first six hours can be the same books, they don't have to be different titles. If you run out of room on the Schlitterbahn log you can add the rest on a piece of notebook paper.

Misplaced the reading logs? Here are the pdfs (FT and S). Make sure it's clearly filled out and names are legible.

Fill it out with FREE reading outside of school hours. Any kind of free reading is OK (yes, audiobooks count! Graphic Novels count! Any kind!). Bring back the signed log. You'll get a spirit stick within a couple of days and in late April and early May (yes, that part is a LOOOOOOONG ways away ... Ms. Oliverson doesn't have any control over that) you'll get your free, non-transferable ticket to Schlitterbahn and Fiesta Texas!
